    Default Unlocking Mobile Phones

Whats the easiest way to unlock your mobile phone, i mean is it best to go to some mobile shop or get it done from the net somehow? Can shops be trusted?

Although unlocking phones is not as important, but sometimes when you want to change service providers, least you know you wont have to change the whole phone but just the sim card. Its basically more convenient.

And if you do unlock your phone does it have an adverse effect on the phone at all?

Asking for crack or unlocking is strictly banned here

Whisper : If you have to unlock then you have to take to some shop as the total software (firmware) has to be changed to make it work on other network...!

thanks for the advice, but i dont really trust shops, as something like 5 years ago, i went to get my mobile sorted out, and they took a part out of my mobile and put something else in it which only made my phone work for 15 days!

Mobile phone unlocking is not banned here.

I do not believe that mobile phones should be locked to a service provider. I should be able to choose the phone set and the provider I want. Anything else is an infringement upon my rights.

It is alright if the provider says that buy this one year contract from me and I will give you the handset free. But then telling me that after one year, I do not have a choice to switch because my handset is locked, is sheer slavery.

ya what you told that is also correct.. that really happens, but the problem is no legal shops are there to unlock such things and as we dont have any other alternative we have to go to the shop... what we can do is search a reputed shop which has some good customer feedback and try your luck...

    else

    send it to me...

Some companies like HTC unlock their phones before selling it in India ...... Though not for all models

There are many individuals who unlock phones for a fee , but that still is not completely safe

Thats not a bad idea, but i suppose it would only be suitable for post paid, but what about prepaid? A good idea to keep in mind J4K, when you have your own mobile provider company!

The only place I know for such issues is Gaffar Market in Delhi, you must have heard the name. But the market is full of bluffers, you got to need to be very attentive, else ask some of your male collegue friends, and if you are lucky, somebody of them must be having some contact over there. Best of luck!

All initial BB came in locked state. Now they are also selling unlocked sets.
while it is easy to unlock GSM sets, cleanly unlocking a CDMA set is more difficult.
there are several tools for unlocking, depending on the handset concerned. however, it should be got done only through an expert.
