    Question Help Mobile Lost

    Dear friends,

Today my father while he was on official tour lost his mobile, the person who got the mobile either has removed the sim or switched off the cell.

I just wanted to know can a cell be made useless with the help of its unique 15 Digit IMEI code.

Manny times have heard that lost mobiles can be rendered useless with the help of its IMEI code how that works.... please through some light on this matter.

    Regards

    Deep

Oh sorry to hear that mate,

Yes the cellphone can be traced but its not so easy, you have to get legal permission from the court to scan the IMEI number of everybody in every network to trace your phone. Its just next to impossible thats all.

Sorry mate but only option i know is, just keep calling if he picks up the call say him you will pay him money if he gives it back say some 500 or so then get it back thats all.

If you have the mobile bill, then you can file a case in the police station & using the FIR & with the help of the service providers who can trace the mobile. But I don't this its possible because we well know about our police system.

My mobile came with this software WaveSecure. Its a pretty good software. If your phone gets lost, you can lock your phone from your PC & you can also trace the number in the mobile (if the sim card is changed).

This software is free & it currently supports the following nokia mobile phones:
    N73, N78, N79, N81, N82, N85, N86, N95, N95 8 GB, N96, N97, E51, E66, E71, E90 & 5800 XpressMusic.

It works perfectly. I myself have tried it.

    @Rameshjeee

first of all police dont register FIR for a lost mobile, secondly i dont want police to run behind my mobile they have many more work to be done which i feel are more important than my mobile lets hope at least they will do that.

Mobile lost in Nagpur (M.H) and we are here in Chennai so if it gets traced also whats the use we cant run from here to nagpur for that mobile.

I want to make that mobile useless so that no one can use it further, thats it.

That bad, hope it wasnt an expensive phone. I think usually you should be able to track the mobile by the imei number, try contacting the mobile company too, see if they can help at all.

i sold my nokia 2626 (a retarded one) to a mobile shopkeeper. he sold it to some person who was according to me not reliable(a person from specific ,.... )

i filed an FIR( wont tell how :-) ) and than i compained in Nokia, and Idea cellular. they jammed the phone...so it took 4 months for me to do this... i waited..that man came to visit the mobile shop keeper, but my whereabouts were not known to him either..

phone bechne ke baad jab pata chala ki esa hua hai, meri jaan sookh gayi thi... so i had to take this step.. pitty that man... no i dont

Yes this is possible but the problem is by resetting the software the IMEI number can be changed.

The service people will use any dead IMEI of some other phone and give it to your phone, and to this they charge only 100 to 150 rs thats all

    ^^^^^^^^^^

    that's great.

but what did cell manufacturer do actually i mean nokia..? what service providers can do is block the IMEI no by including it in a common database shared by all operators so that service is not provided to that particular number.
