Thread: Delays in 3G Launch Frustrates Customers in India

It has been a while now after we have heard of the launching of 3G services by MTNL the state owned mobile service provider. We are already in June 2009 and the auction is yet to take place for the 3G spectrum. MTNL which is already in possession of its share of the spectrum is slow to launch the services in full fledge. Mobile phone companies have already launched mobile phones in India with 3G features. All the top companies like Nokia, Samsung, LG, etc have released their 3G enabled phones in India hoping to capture the early market in India. To the disappointment of the 3G enthusiasts and mobile phone companies, we are yet to get our 3G services in India.

Top mobile phone companies anticipated a huge hike in the sales of their 3G enabled models and they too are disappointed with the delays. It has been reported that consumers that constantly contact MTNL customer support asking about 3G services is on the increase. They are getting more and more frustrated with the response of the customer support executives that do not offer any definitive answers on 3G network.

MTNL news state that they do not want to launch their services in full swing until all the features are tested thoroughly to ensure their services are satisfactory. They are cautious not to ruin their reputation because once people find their services unreliable due to the initial glitches, they will never return to MTNL meanwhile other major private players will capture their market. So MTNL is playing its coins very cautiously. They are not under any pressure from its competition as the 3G spectrum auction is yet to take place. Once the private players come in, MTNL too will be forced to rush in with their services. People suspect that MTNL is just waiting for the right timing for launching their 3G services. It is better to keep people waiting rather than rendering poor services. Migration of the network from 2G to 3G seems to face some glitches and MTNL is working on these issues. As per MTNL spokes person, MTNL is in the final stages of its testing phase and they will soon launch the services. This frustrates the consumers further because they have been hearing this response for a long time and nothing has materialized so far.

MTNL has planned to launch SIM cards first before data cards and data cards will be optional for users who want to buy them. With data cards they will first allow 3G high speed mobile broadband connectivity then followed by video calls and other advanced features. Users are not ready to be wooed by all these statements from MTNL; they want to see something really happening.

If MTNL does not do something about the situation with regard to 3G launch, it will have a large volume of frustrated customers and many of them may decide to turn to other service providers even though it means waiting for a longer period because currently MTNL can launch its services but it is failing to do so.

Govt players didnt managed to include resources in their Dibbas(servers) but they made anouncements after announcements, made people and now they have eventually failed to do anything..

what actually happens with MTNL, BSNL etc.. these corrupt guys are given time from govt. before the private players when a new thing/services has to be started, so that these govt agencies can earn some bread, but what happens consequtively is that the officers etc(high post) guys take money from private guys and dont do the things with speed, and so they make mtnl bsnl services poor, leaving the market for these pvt players...

this is how pvt players get their pie, govt agencies fail, and ppl are dumbed...

everybody wants to be rich in just one day....God knows someday such guys will even sell their everything...
