Default If you lose your Mobile…………

This is an era of smart phones. Mobile phones are not just instruments to make and receive the call. It is stuffed with applications which provide various functions to the user. Let it be iphone, BlackBerry or the E series all comes with utility stuff. As the function increase, so do the price. It cost around a month’s salary or more to buy a good mobile phone. What if it is lost. You can make sure that you can do something about it. It is an age old technique but really handy. Every mobile carries an unique IMEI. IMEI is the short form of International Mobile Identity no

    1. Dial *#06# from your mobile.
    2. Your mobile shows a unique 15 digit .
    3. Note down this no anywhere but except your mobile as this is the no which will help trace your mobile in case of a theft.
    4. Use this no to track down you r mobile phone

Perhaps, if the police happen to recover your lost mobile, you can give the IMEI number to them as proof and claim your mobile from them! But for this you will have to lodge a complaint with the police and register FIR ! That is the only use I can think of, for the IMEI number

If you loose your mobile, it can be disabled, for use by the thief, even if you don't get it back.

How to disable stolen mobile phone

How to Disable stolen Mobile phone
Have your mobile stolen ? Don't worry, he who has stolen your mobile can't even sell your stolen mobile if you read this article carefully.

Simply write down on your mobile phone following code.
To check your Mobile Phone's Serial number, key in the following digits on your phone:All mobile phone users should keep a note of their handset's serial number (known as the 'IMEI'), as it's very handy if the phone is lost or stolen. The number can normally be found under the battery (looking something like 004400/01/123456/7).
You can also get this number from the phone software, by entering following usefull code

Simply write down on your mobile phone following code.

    * # 0 6 #

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen after pressing send button, or in some phones it comes automatically just by writing above given code. . This Number is unique to your Handset.
Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.
    Should your phone get stolen,
you can phone your service provider and give them this code.
They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card,
your phone will be totally useless.
You probably won't get your phone back,
but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either.
    If everybody does this,
there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones

but for that you need an FIR, and for that you need to meet a policeman like Harishchandra who would listen ,which close to impossible in India, then the service provider who think that customer is sh*** and won't even have a look at your case.

Trust me, I have tried, I had the IMEI no, original receipt of phone on my name, the SIM was on my name, still I was unable to recover my phone.
