Default Are chinese mobiles worth buying?

These days i am seeing a lot of Chinese phones coming in the market and as of the Chinese products reputation i think that they are not really worth buying as they do not have any service center chain and also i think that they are not that much reliable.

So what you say are they worth?

china is really good in legal copying...
they copy almost everything from carparts to home theatre...
a friend of mind brought a handphone NOKLA instead of NOKIA from china with lower price....
not bad.. they copy almost 100% except for the function...
so guys, if you don't mind being criticized, get the phone from china!

Almost all the Nokia mobiles we get in India are exported from China only and I found no issues with using it and most of them work long and performance is also not bad. I am talking about Nokia itself importing from China and not the illegal stuff that we get from China. So, it depends. Even some illegal products from China do indeed will be of good quality too.

Being an Indian I would say quality of Indian products is the best in the world be it mobiles or any other product.. except for condoms (see the bloody population)

Otherwise speaking there is no problem with Chineese goods especially the hi tech stuff which is prepared for multinational companies who keep a stringent check on the quality and they do have service centers in India if they sell products here.

Admin i dont think that Chinese products have that much long life. I agree no IT products have a long like as new and new things keep comming in but you can see even mobile phones from companies like Nokia have problem and people visit there service centers. If there are no service center whome would these people visit.

Okay. As of this thread i think the major issue is of service centers. I would say that people who are worried about it should go with companies which have large number of service centers in india such as Nokia, Sony and people who are not worried can go with chinese goods.

I think chinese mobiles are worth buying as they are cheap and more over i dont think that they would have problmes that much soon and also if a $100 handset stops working after 7-8 month i think it would be okay.

From my side you know the reputation of Chinese good. Like my brother have a Nokia handset whose charger is made in China and within 3 months its charger stopped working. Now you can see if this is with the reputable company products then what would be with non branded companies.

As someone said in the thread, as long as the product is from a reputed phone manufacturer, "Made in China" does not matter. In any case, all major manufacturing takes place in China. On the other hand: cheap = poor quality.

My mottos:

a) When you buy quality you will cry once only
b) When you shell out peanuts, you get monkeys

they are worth as i am using it for last 3 months and working fine.

Features better then nokia or sony.

moreover repairing cost is only Rs 300 /- and if display isnt working, they change for Rs 800 /- What else do you want.

Even if you go for nokia grey market , no one can guarantee.

Please note : I am a Nokia hardcore. I am using nokia handsets for last 6 years (multiple models)

Of course it is worth buying only if you know that you are dealing with a reliable source and not fake. I have had to buy once a chinese cell phone, brand unknown, it work for perfectly fine for more than a year and I had resold it too!

I would soon be getting myself a chinese made iPhone clone. I saw this cell phone in a local market and it was almost exact copy of iPhone and it is available for just 4,800 rupees.
