Giving kids a smartphone is not really a good idea. I can see it is a great phone but kids are habit too young and vulnerable.
Smart phones emmit radiations that are harmful when one is exposed for a long time. These also cause stress and moral decay.
Anyway that is my point of view.

I totally agree with you on this point. We should discourage this culture. Whatever parental control is there, they will find out a way to override it. Nowadays kids are smarter than grown ups. But it is a fact that even if we stop them using a phone, they will have it from somewhere else. I have seen school children asking for second hand mobiles in mobile shops. When I asked a shop owner who is my friend, he said that school children are their biggest customers. They always look for second hand mobiles with camera facility. It is really ruining the culture and there is no control on it.

I think when we consider the actual danger of mobile phones in a kids hand, radiation effect is of less importance.

If at all, I think a wifi based tablet, with specially designed OS targeted for children, is a better option than a phone.

That is a good point. But why did you prefer a WiFi connection in a kids phone? Is there any particular reason behind this, just curious to know.

But when we handover a tablet to a kid, there is high possibility of mishandling as kids are not mature enough to keep it safely. There is high possibility of damage in that case. But a compact smartphone would be handy for them to use.

But there is an advantage of tablet too. It will be less strenuous on the eyes than a smartphone. Moreover, kids can even use it for educational purpose and reading. Even though this is possible with a smartphone, it is not so comfortable I think.

there is no need for a phone to a kid. but tablet has a larger screen and is more useful as an educational tool. a tablet can be useful as there are many apps that can be entertaining and also educational. for installing such apps, wifi access is required. for running also wifi may be required, to access information from the web.
there are many childrens' books available for free with kindle unlimited. kindle app is free. a wifi tablet with kindle app can also serve as a ebook reader.

While I can see the problem that people have with child friendly smartphones, at the end of the day we will eventually have to get used to the fact that technology is becoming attractive to younger and younger audience.

I'd rather a child had a smartphone designed for a child, than they have one that's made for an adult put it that way, so with that in mind I think they're a good idea.

How much exactly is value in Dollars? I do not understand about the Indian currency. About the reviews, is phone good? Because children are usually demanding, they want something powerful system to run your games without lag. When i see the system seems a little bit weak.

It will cost you around $100. I think the main objective behind this initiative is to focus on a particular segment of society which has not been addressed so far. But I seriously doubt its effectiveness as it seems quite useless for kid segment. Yes, you are right, kids may not be satisfied with such a phone designed for them with too many controls. They will always look up for other mobiles.

It is not a high end phone, but the only specialty is the presence of too many parental controls since it is a phone meant for kids. In fact I agree with the comments of @panchabhut that there is no need for such a phone for kids. A tablet could be more useful for them.

I don't think it's a bad idea, when a child is 10 to get a mobile phone and getting a smartphone isn't bad either. When you keep someone from something, when they finally get their hands on it, they always tend to go overboard, or do anything in order to get whatever it is that they want. Also a major factor in the handing down of smartphones to kids is their upbringing, if a child is from a good home or has parents who try their best for them, they tend to have good morals and have a high percent of making more of good choices than bad choices. In this time and age, it is understandable if a child has a smartphone, the world is evolving and the internet despite the bad is a big ball of information that is needed to learn and grow with the time.

A tablet has the same similarities with a phone, only difference would be the calling option, which is needed in case they are in a situation, which they need immediate assistance and can't help themselves, plus technology also makes it that you can track the activities of a phone and location.

I am not a fan of kids having mobile phone but society is changing. At least this one is aimed for kids. Parents can install Net Nanny if they want their kids safe from those adult oriented websites.
