24,500 is 600 dollars. That's 200 more that what it should cost.
Is the phone unlocked? If it is, ask for the price without it being unlocked. Most sellers here charge a premium for unlocking the phone for you. There are lots of ways to unlock an iphone yourself nowadays. Check out modmyifone.com and ziphone.org.
It's definitely worth picking up if you're into it. I've had one for the past couple of months and love it.
Check if the piece is brand new. If it's box packed, even better. And check that the interface works.

Well 24,500 seems ok cos ....i got it fro 432$~17K hence these guys will charge i guess that much. But again the question lies that ..whether its a fresh piece ....cos it must be unlocked as u could check the firmware version.
And if ur keen on purchasing it then ....check by inserting another sim cos at&t does not work here ........get some indian sim in it and check. But the thing is i dont think those guys will allow u to check all the stuff in it .....cos probably u wont get any wi-fi connection near their shop .......and most of the iPhone things work using the wi-fi....
can u not get a piece from the US along with some one ....so that the risk is minimized drastically. Then ofcourse u can crack it here ...on ur own ..

shriniketsarkar has a point. best way to know if it's unlocked is to insert a sim card and see if it works.
I had mine brought in from the US, which is the best way to do it. It will be cheaper and more reliable.
Jailbreaking, like i said, is really easy these days. The links I posted earlier are the best help. There are different tools depending on what platform you're on but it's equally easy on mac or pc.
If you're somewhere in Bombay (or Pune) I'd be happy to do it for you.

I got it from US for 432$.
And now if u want to do anything with the iPhone simply download the ZiPhone 2.5 GUI based tool and it will do all for u ...
Jailbreaking is easy u even have a seperate option for it in this tool.
The tool also does Unlocking ur iPhone for other GSM carriers,Jailbreaking ur iPhone for 3rd Party Apps to be installed on it,And it also activates the iPhone for u.

And to do all this at one shot u just need to hit the button named Do It All on this gui based tool ......
Once u get ur phone feel free to ask on what steps to follow in using the tool.

But i would still suggest that if u got any contacts there in US and who could get u a phone then go for that option instead.

And for the url to download that tool simply google for ZiPhone 2.5 and u will get the makers site link directly simply download it for ur choice of os WINDOWS or MAC and done.

Well 1.1.4 was released in the period u say but it is not hard to upgrade even the 1.0.3 to 1.1.4.Its a lot simpler hence u never know .....If u can then check the bootloader version and the BaseBand version. Those will help cos no one will go for upgrading that to a latest version .......no point in doing that.
hence may be that can help u.But i will still suggest u that wait till its launch or get it from outside i.e US .....cos these people u can never trust.

And regarding jailbroken iPhone no need to worry with that cos ...even if its not jailbroken then also u can do it on ur own.Its very simple using the ZiPhone software.
Well i dont think there will be any issues of wifi and other stuff ...cos its all software based ...and even if it does not work then u can simply reinstall the firmware and get it to work.but ofcourse the hardware for it must be intact. And that person will not be guarantying u for that.Hence i suggest wait.Cos its a question of 24K.
And it works simply fine with BSNL.No issues.
