Rep Power: 2 | I have read some news elsewhere that Apple is going to launch their iphone in India and china, two of the major market for mobile phone industry. I also read that they are going to launch it, like you can use it for any provider in India, unlike in u.s. where only AT&T users can use it. If it is true, then it could be the great news for those iphone lovers in india, who are very eager to lay their hands on it. |

Rep Power: 12 | You can buy an iphone for Rs17000-18000 from Gaffar market in Karol baag at Newdelhi. The phones are also available sealed in boxes and also used ones which come even cheaper. Once they are launched in India officially I am sure the prices will drop a lot |

Rep Power: 0 | I got one from my cousin in UK. He paid there £180 (Nearly Rs14400). Its cool. But seems bit heavy and not easy to carry. But it is a real tiger among the latest gadgets. Nice display and what I love the most about it is that to unlock the key pad, I just need to drag my finger on the screen. Cool!!! I love it. Even if it costs 20000, I would say... go ahead. I hope some shops would soon try to get the ipones in bulk. Once they are in the market, the wholesale price would drop as Apple might start producing them in china. -alok Quote:

Rep Power: 12 | No you wont get a bill or any paperwork.. it will be a cash only transaction and the moment you step out of the shop there are no guarantees. I have been buying electronics and some other stuff from Gaffar market and never ever had a problem. I am not too sure if apple has a service center in India but I am sure there are a lot of places which would repair your phone if anything ever went wrong. These guys at Delhi can even get you spare parts which are not available in India else where. And if you do buy an iphone trust me you will be looking to buy another phone in a years time so don't worry about repairs and all.. who get a mobile phone repaired? |

Rep Power: 2 | I would be looking forward to go with Chinese mobile phones in which you can also get a duplicate of Apple iPhone for around 4,800 rupees rather then spending 16 K on this handset. |

I got an iPhone. Trust me its an amazing device.Well though lot many features are not there but if ur a techie then i really doubt that the new Apple IDE that apple has launched will not be used. More and more apps will keep comming as the IDE is launched ...even i am trying to improve some of the existing apps. The best part that apple has done is that they have put a high class hardware into that phone hence the only part remaining is software hence no doubt that u will not get a functionality u desire in it.

Its kind of a development software that apple has recently launched for the development of application for the iPhone. Hence u can hope most of the things will be available very soon. Apple has provided almost all the required hardware in the iPhone now only the need is to get good apps to work on it to server the community. Well no idea how u will manage to get a piece in kolkata but there are many dealers in Mumbai ...if u would like to ...i dont know about kolkata .... but one thing is for sure ....if u are going to wait for the official launch of the iPhone in India then probable apple will get it in the indian markets with some service provider agreement in India. Hence we cant say that u will be allowed to switch service providers even in india. Also and if they launch then probably the cost will be more ..something around 25k + cos if u will check out the apple website for india then check out the prices for APPLE iTouch : itsw something around 17k where as if u get an itouch from US then u get it for something around 13-14k. This was long back now may be they must have dipped the prices but anyways iPhone will be costly after the official launch. Anyways dude APPLE rocks the market over windows based PDAs or handsets. Though iPhone is more of an entertainment device more for the showy purpose but i am sure given some more functionality it will be a full proof computer in that small metal casing.

| Junior Member | that was great...well...i had an o2 before...xda ii...got bored with the hangin...upgraded it to all the workable versions of WM5 ...at that point of time...bought a GPS reciever to try it...finally sold it..and went back to nokia...am really bored with it...so i have 2 options....the iphone and the HTC 3300..which has a built in GPS receiver and WM5 (it does have free firmware ugrade to 6) but yeah the processor is real weak...a 200mhz omap... i guess the iphone is way more better...man...ur right about the official price..once it comes out...i would rather get on rite now...how much is it in mumbai ?? and where in mumbai can i get it?? any probs with the 4 gig version ??? or is 8 all is available now...?? |

Now i havent checked for the prices. But in mumbai ..u will have to be a bit cautious cas the sellers are very strong in hand magics.......I mean they can sell u the duplicate China made iPhone with the Apple branded lable.....yes it possible one of my friend got fixed in their strategy ...he got a china made iPhone 8Gig piece for just 6k rs and now he has a lot of features but the iPhone doesnot seem to charge many a times ....he is having problem with the camera ....the software crashes many a times ...and lots of problems ....hence u will have to get a good grasp of features of the original iPhone so that u can compare and then get to know the originality. Well i gues u should go for the 8Gig phone rather than going for a 4Gig phone cos as though apple has stopped manufacturing the 4 gig phones now ....they are all 8 and 16 ...but 8 i guess is sufficient ....ofcourse i dont know ur needs of space.Choose according to ur needs. And if u ask for 4 Gig phone in the mumbai market then may be ur likely to get an old piece cos apple had that in market long back ...hence it will be also of the oldest firmware ......

| Junior Member | went to the market yesterday...they're quoting 24,500 fot the 8 gig version...here....wat do u think about the price...i managed to check the firmware...it's 1.14... and i did see a at&t sim card in it...do u think it's worth picking up...???? and wat do i need to check in the box and eanything else before i get it... |
