All u guys forgot one thing that apple iphone cost $200 in UK and other europen countries and in India it cost Rs.32000/-. Airtel is going to have a blast. LOL. Ithink HTC touch diamond is much better. Even 3G is not launched in INDIA. So why to invest so much money.

That is not wi-fi. That is Edge/3G based internet service that you are getting in your country from your cell phone provider.

With Apple iPhone you cannot connect to a home wi-fi router or sit in a coffee shop and connect to the public hot spot.

The price is not $200 in UK, its more like £350 which is about Rs29000.

There is hardly any difference in price of an iphone across the globe. Please do not confuse this with iphone which comes at a lesser price with a contract of a year or a year and a half as those deals are a different thing and are not the true cost of the phone.

    Its definitely wi-fi Mate…

My friend come at my home and connects to my BSNL broadband through wi-fi regularly…

and really the price of the iPhone doesn't have much difference across the globe…
You have to pay $40 or so every month for 1-2 years if you buy it for $200…
and have to hand over the handset when you are done…

The Iphone is great, I've got an unlocked one. Just make sure not to update it, or it will brick it. Other than that, it's the best phone there is.

.... iPhone has Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) internally and can connect to any hot spot or wifi enabled router.

This is the list of shortcomings. I got it as a forwarded mail.

    1. No video calling,

    2. No AD2P on the Bluetooth,

    3. CAN’T share ANY (mp3, images,videos....) files via bluetooth,

    4. Can't use as a wireless modem, (you pay ridiculous data charges to activate internet on your phone, but cannot connect it to your PC and browse when you are at home)
    5. No copy and paste,(cannot copy a part of a.... say.... email & send it....have to type it out yourself)

    6. No 3.2 or 5 megapixel camera,(the 2MP camera it carries is worst camera i've ever seen..... photos look like they have come out of a VGA camera)

    7. No video recording with camera,

    8. No front camera,

    9. No flash.

    10. No JAVA support

    11. No physical keyboard (BELIEVE me! this alone is a dealbreaker...touch keyboard as good as it looks...once you use it then only you come to know about the importance of having a hard keypad)

    12. No 3G network yet in India..so why pay for expensive 3G phone if you cant use its 3G services ... so, for India, iPhone 2.0 is no better than its first version

    13. No removable battery. (You cannot change battery. Have to send it to apple outlet.. Come on now!!!!...This is not an iPod. Its a bloody phone. You cannot live without phone for 2-3 days)

    14. No haptic feedback

    15. Cannot send MMS,

    16. Can’t use as external storage device (16 GB of utter waste..next time you go to your friend's house & find some interesting songs, movies, etc...sorry you cannot connect your '16 GB' phone and share it!!!! Apple apparently has a solution.. " BUY MUSIC & MOVIES FROM iTUNES STORE "..... Give me a break will you APPLE!!!)

    17. No FM radio,

    18. Can’t use your mp3 files as ringtones,(This is heights man!!!)

    19. Cannot insert any other SIM card….

    20. Completely tied to iTunes... Connect to your friend's iTunes & you risk erasing everything on your phone.
    list goes on & on & on….
Where did you hear that from? Is it from an accurate source, as i know people who have the iphone and are preety happy with the features and say there is alot more than mentioned.

For 31K for 36+K, I feel that iPhone is not worth the money. You can buy an iTouch for half the price.

Yeh true its not worth spending too much money on the iphone, its obviously more expensive now because its new in the Indian market, but few months down the line it will get cheaper.

2mp cam of iphone is good enuf .. definitely not equal to a vga cam as originally posted... plus you can get apps added on it (please understand guys.. iphone was made by Apple keeping US audience as target.. their revenue model is based on app downloads from app store.. you can get as many apps to show u the power of iphone downloaded from i phone... but then there is a charge attached to it..)
