Thread: I need a new phone

I am looking to buy a new mobile phone with a few features as listed below:

1) Need wifi

2) 3g compatible

3) Be able to install external applications especially skype


It would be great if you could suggest me something which is not very costly.

I am not fussed about camera, mp3 and stuff like that... I just need the most basic thing which would run the 3 things listed above

i think n80 or n82.. its ok.. for u..check out... those will b cheapest i think not sure...

others are nokia communicators.. or blackberrys

We dont have a CPM government here in Delhi

I just checked 3310 specs and it does not have wifi and is not compatible with external applications.

HTC Touch - Full phone specifications check this site.,, the specification is fairly nice.. and windows mobile,,, so u can install skype most probably.. and one more thing.. 3310?? r u mad>>>?? lol 3310 nokia stoppd manifacturing since ages.. check this fine model in link and ask the retailer in yor area abt the price....


i will give u my opinion... frankly telling u..see n95 2 gb.. not 8gb.. coz thts very costly... i dont know exact price mostly will count around 22k.. but all in one man.. u wont regret,. i m gettin it in a month...best option.. if u want cheaper.. check out the llink.. ask price to yor nearby shops..

On Nokia E-71 skype cannot be installed as it is althought it does have a sip client but it kind of kills the purpose of spending all that money

HTC touch has got everything that I need.

Does anyone have it? Any reviews?

i think u can install it.. skkype is just an app.. which i will give u.. one of my relative had windows mobile and had skype,, this is also operating same os.. so can install.. rest u can make it more detailed if some1 possess this fone.. ask him to install.. if more help needed always welcomed.. chao......... cheers... hope u get 1 soon.. lolz imao:50::24:

I was going to suggest E-71 but as Skype Application is of paramount importance to you it is rules out. I have not seen the HTC Touch.

i have seen HTC and it really a good phone... one of my friends dad is using this phone and screen and features are good.. his dad dont have much applications installed on that phone its just as a style thing for him.. i will try to load skype on that phone

otherwise i like the flip screen feature of that phone.. its very similar to ubuntu cube option

I have it installed on my N70 and it works very well…
Sometime hangs though…

If you can… go for E71 and Fring combo…
Because Fring dosen't support iPhone 3G otherwise that would've been my choice…

Admin, For such a qualification like yours (on the forum). You should buyout the Nokia E51. With its slimline metallic finish and the requirements like you have mentioned, Its truely a bussiness class phone with options which a normal user might need. Checkout your nokia dealer. If you the budget go for E90 or the E71.
