    Default G phone

After the all singing and dancing iphone... Google has launched their G Phone which has thier in house developed operating system and is going to cost just 33% of what an I phone cots.

In my opinion G phone is good value for money from what I hear but it wont be launched here in India as yet and they have not announced the launch date either so I guess we will have to wait for some time.

Its already available in the USA for about $200 and it will be launched in UK in November so I might be able to buy one when I go to UK this time in October end

What do you guys think about G phone... I think it will be a massive success given the fact that Google has a massive brand value and people trust that name ... atleast I do.

iPhone(3G edition) has been priced really high... Even if u compare with US markets where its sold much cheaper than in India... By pricing the iPhone at a price band which can only be reached by a select few, Apple is sending a clear message on the premium positioning of iPhone in India. While I personally wished the iPhone was priced 10K lower, subconsciously the pricing makes sense to me.... The 'wow' factor of the iPhone has been maintained by ensuring that not every second guy in the mall is yapping on an iPhone...

G Phone is certainly gonna capture the major share of market with its comparatively modest price...Google will incorporate its services into this Phone to ensure superior web browsing on the move....This means we can definitely expect the indispensable Google search engine as well as its highly popular interactive maps to be an integral part of the handset...

I Phone has been introduced on an escalated price just because they knew the competition coming ahead...

Nokia will still dominate but am really not aware of performance of other than symbian Nokias.

Google's Dream Phone will take lot of time to Break the Ice... Its too hard to switch to those kind of Phones from traditional ones.

I dont agree with you ... I phone does not cost $199 its way more then that..

All around the world the price of an Iphone is almost in the same range +-10-15%

If you find $199 I phone without a contract any where in the world let me know.. ... I will buy thousands of them and ship them her in India and sell them at gaffar market on patri at $250 a peice... will sell like hot cakes... I am sure at Rs10000 you would buy one aswell.

Please do not mistake a contract phone with the real price.

If you still do not agree please post a link to a page where its being sold... I will clear your doubts

Can you provide me a link where they sell an Iphone for $200 in USA?

And Gphone is not getting launched here in India any time soon ... even UK they will launch in November... where did you get this info from?

I read about iPhone in a mag. "chip"... it says its available in rest of world at a price $199 for 8 GB... and $299 for 16 GB... It also says that airtel & vodafone b'lieve that the contract system which works abroad can't be enforced in India, so Indian consumers will have to shell out the full price of the phone, sans any subsidies or "in-plan" charges($699 & $799 respectively).
It also mentions the problem that despite paying the full price, and with no contract obligations, it'll still be locked for use on the network you bought it from (and you can't buy one without being an existing subscriber or signing up for new connection on the spot)... In its view, this is totally unfair, considering the entire GSM market in India works with unlocked phones...

Other major provider-related negatives include no support for visual voice mail, no ability to pay for downloads or value-added services as part of your bill...

And yeah... its also gonna locked with providers like iPhone 3G...

Same was the case with I-Phone !!! The only liberty will be if the G-Phone dosen't come bundled with an Service Provider...

Impossible !! It has a huge Lobby to Face !!!

expect the price to be anywhere from 20000-25000..... don't expect it to be cheap. But at any cost, it is a lot better than iPhone.... you can install anything on your Gphone... don't have to take anyone's permission.

Why is the G phone so cheap?

And what are the advantages and disadvantages of the G Phone as compared to other phones.

I have to say it does look good and very sleek, although black in color would look better.

thats something i agree with, although the G phone looks awesome and may have some of the best features, but like you said it can be difficult to switch to something new and different. But then again the name Google will be a hit, as this will be the first Google product.
