Can i use my BSNL AN1020-21 adsl router for local cable internet?

hii guys,
can i use my BSNL AN-1020-21 modem for excel media which was a local intenet provider?

i was just given the following by my provider
1)a connection with wired
2)IP-
3)subnet mask
4)default gateway etc
dns servers etc

i dnt knw whether i can get internet with my bsnl modem or not

provider say i couldnt use my bsnl modem?was it true
pls help me in using the modem plsss

Cable internet and ADSL are different technologies. You can't use one modem over other.

I have seen Hathway internet cable modem. It has a bnc connecter to input the cable signal (like what is used by a set top box). It does not have a telephone RJ-11 port. It also does not work on adsl technology. There is no way it can be connected to a telephone data line. So, I also conclude that, conversely, an ADSL modem cannot be used with a cable internet provider. That is as far as I know. If someone knows otherwise, I don't know.
