Default How many devices can I connect to a wifi router?

I am planning to purchase a wifi router so that it would be easy to connect to the internet using wifi. There would be around six devices which would be connected to the router at one time during late evening hours, the rest of the time there would be a maximum of three devices connected. Now my question is maximum how many devices can I connect to a wifi router? Is there any particular router that I need if I wanted to connect as many as six devices.

The tiny portable routers that go with usb modems mostly let you connect 5 devices but the ones you use with an adsl connection or a cable connection would let you connect more then that. It all depends on the router brand and make you get. This information is always printed on the packaging or in case of online shopping you should get this information on the product page.

the teeny tiny hotspots allow a max of 5. Just as Admin says.
in other routers, you can define a ip pool size, so that the router allocates successive ip addresses to each device that connects to the network. the number of ip addresses allowed in that subnet mask will be the theoretical limit of the number of devices that can connect to the network. also please mind that, in such a case ur internet speed will be shared amongst these devices on a time+load basis, and it will become slower with more devices connecting...

You can easily connect up to five devices without any problems. Depending on a router you can connect more than five as well.

Connecting about five devices is a minimim , you maximum number of devices you can connect are 8 depending on the router.

There is no theoretical limit – depending on router capability & capacity some low end ones limit it to 5 or 8, specifically the Operator provided ones. Most don’t. For home use, it is rarely a limitation though.

From personal experience and from friends experience I have found that for a smooth connection you can easyily connect up to four devices, after connecting the fifth device the speed isnt exactly good enough. It also depends on the router you choose, as some allow you to connect up to eight devices as well, but then the internet speed should also be good enough.
