    Default Modem for BSNL broadband

Hello PPl, i am new here, and a bit new to all these, i am opting to go for a broadband to my existing landline, so i called BSNL and told them abt it bt they are saying i need to purchase their modem which is above 2k and i seen on net that these modem/router u can get below 1k too, so i just want to know can i purchase it on my own and give it to these BSNL guys for installation?
They have said me its ok if i buy on my own but what i fear is then they will say this is not compatible and stuffs and i will have to suffer a loss.
So please guide and here is the link of the modem i opt to buy :

    TP-Link 150 Mbps Wireless N Router (TL-WR740N) - Buy @ Rs.788/-

    TP-Link 10/100 Mbps 8 Ports Desktop Switch (TL-SF1008D) - Buy @ Rs.553/-

    D-Link 10/100 Mbps 8-Ports Unmanaged Switch (DES-1008A) - Buy @ Rs.626/-

Please help me on this. it would be much appreciable, Thanks in Advance

Out of three products you have listed above, none of them is a modem. First one is a router and other two are switches. You cannot use any of these in place of a modem. The cheapest Adsl modem with inbuilt wifi router would cost you about Rs1400-1500 nothing less then that. An adsl modem without wifi would cost you atleast Rs700-800.

For Rs 2000 you can get a modem with built in wifi router that also supports USB modems.

If your budget is within Rs 1500-2000 you can opt for TP-LINK TD-W8968 300 Mbps Wireless N USB ADSL2 Modem Router

Now what's special about this one

Other than normal routers available in the market, this is the only one that works both with a phone line(RJ-11) and ethernet cable(RJ-45).

The cable that comes with BSNL is a RJ-11.
Now suppose, you decided to leave BSNL and took a cable internet connection like Hathway, Wishnet etc. They provide an ethernet cable(RJ-45) for connection.

This router also comes with a USB port. Using that you can plug your 3G dongle and share internet connection. The USB port can also be used to share printers, external hard disks etc.

This router comes with a dual antennae. So there is wifi connection.

Lastly, there are 4 lan ports, so you can also use normal wired ethernet cable for connection.

So buying this product, will make you eligible to use any form of internet connection. This is future proof and an all-in-one device.

    Summary:
    Router + Modem combo
    Wifi capable
    Ethernet capable
USB for 3G dongle, printer sharing, external hard disk sharing

This is my recommendation only, you may also have other ideas.

That is a good suggestion. Covers everything you would ever need. Just one drawback that it wont wash your clothes or do the dishes
