Hi.I'm using Reliance Cable Broadband for the past 3 years.. I recently purchased this Netgear DGN 2200 (N300) Router. It doesn't connect & couldn't establish a connection.. Does anybody give me really the steps to make the connection go live??

Whatever values your isp provided you to enter in your computer will go into your router and your pc need to be set up to aquire ip amd dns automatically.

Then both your router and your computer need to be left at aquire ip automatically. You would still need to log in using the browser. This set up wont login automatically.

There are plenty of tutorials on our forum already. This one is for modem+router : http://www.indiabroadband.net/relian...ter-guide.html You can pick up the settings from the router part. There is another thread just for the router with screen shots : http://www.indiabroadband.net/relian...een-shots.html

The make and model may be different but settings would all be the same.

The cable that comes from your modem will go into that grey slot and any one of those yellow ports can be used to connect to the computer.

But for your understanding,,Reliance is now stopped giving Telephone via Internet or so called ADSL lines.. They are now changed to Cable Broadband.. So i think Slot 4 will be of good use..& I hope Reliance is also changing to BSNL's FDDH plan...

If you are using their cable broadband and there is no modem in the set up then they must have provided you with these :

    IP address
    Subnet mask
    Gateway

These values now go into the router instead of your PC and for your PC leave them at automatic.

Which connection do you have an is there a modem that you use or is it just a lan cable that runs into your computer? Either way the config would still be the same for router.

You are not answering any questions and I find it very difficult to help you. What kind of connection is it? Do you have a modem in there? Have you been provided any settings to enter into your computer? Without these details I am just shooting in the dark.

There is Reliance wimax, Reliance adsl, Reliance 3g, Reliance FTTH, Reliance netconnect etc etc. I have used all of these apart from adsl and cable and I have used wifi routers with them aswell. I dont know how good it would get with other users. You cannot just sit infront of a doctor and ask him to make a guess about whats wrong with you

Use a few more words and describe what are you useing if you want a detailed reply from me or wait for other people to reply.

Ok thats what I needed to know.

Go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center on your computer and click on the connection that says connected and you should get a window that says ethernet status, In this window click on properties and then another window would open. In the new window double click on the option that says Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPV4) and you will get a new window with all the settings in there.

Now make a note of the values on this page :

    IP address
    Subnet mask
    Gateway

    and DNS primary and secondary.

Once you have noted these settings you would need to choose the options that say "Obtain IP address automatically" and down below choose "Obtain DNS server address automatically"

and now click on ok and come out of the whole thing.

Now take out the ethernet cable from your PC and stick it into your router and connect the router with your PC using a cable.

Type www.routerlogin.net into your browser or whatever the IP address is written on the back side of the router or the manual that came with it and login using the default login ID and password.

You will see the settings page and you would need to enter the settings that you noted down into your router settings page now. Click on save and then reboot your router and computer.

You should have a working connection through the router now and you can now set up the wifi password and security in the router wireless settings once this is all done.

Lets get this working first and then we can talk about the wireless bit. One step at a time would keep it less complicated

    I hope this helps.

You need to choose "No" for login required. In the picture you have chosen Yes.

Choose no for login required. You would need to login using the browser. Router cannot login automatically even if you input your login details.

Just click on WIFi Connections tab and enable it and set your wifi password and you are all set. If you still cannot get it to work please post a screen shot of wifi connections page.
