Thread: Slow Speed in MTNL 3g

Hello every1

I m new here.


I m using MTNL [Delhi] 3G Unlimited Plan [Rs.4500 for 6 months] in Uttar Pradesh, Earlier i used to get very good speeds but since last 4-5 days speed doesn't goes beyond 40-45 Kbps.


What could be the possible reason for it ?

[using it in mircomax 310G data card]

Where In Uttar Pradesh u are using MTNL. Check ur signal strength and post the results.U may find an option in Settings-> Diagnostics of Micromax's modem manager software

Signal strength is the imp reason for lower speeds, another possible reason for lower speeds is congestion in network. If signal strength is above 70 then check ur connection in non peak hrs ,say 8:00 am in morning

I m using it in Bareilly for last 3 months ,

speed was very good but it has slowed down considerably in last 3-4 days.

signal strength is good.

any more suggestions ??

where have you used in Bareilly???

i used in bareilly speeds were awesome.. (in rajendra nagar and satellite by-pass ke pass mere dost ke ghar mein, dont know what the place called)

i m based near railway station,

speed was superb but now it sucks

in Bareilly MTNL operats on BSNL network but on data it doesn't charge for roaming. So it may be a fault in BSNL's tower there.

is it possible that it might be cuz i haven't recharged my sim in last 3 months??

i have been using it for data only, not even a single call has been made from it

BSNL 3g is working fine in my area double checked it

No, I too using a data card without call utility and my balance is just Rs. 0.78 but since I had paid Rs.4500 for Data only 2 months ago. I am facing no Problems in speeds till now.Infact for last 10 days I am getting Nice speeds upto 2.9Mbps earlier I used to get only upto 1.5Mbps.

call u pls let me know wat settings u r using ?

My settings,Its a prepaid connection

Password is mtnl123,its common too all subscribers

rest of the APN's on MTNL Delhi website are not valid now.

i tried all other APN's mentioned on MTNL's website but none of it works except for gprsppsdel

Thats what I had mentioned in my previous post

i got the same plan in end of march and for last 3 days they have reduced my speed to 0.5 Mbps from 2.5 Mbps. I am in Delhi and my friend who has the same plan and lives in my area is still getting high speeds. i guess it because i recently downloaded 50 gb data in 3-4 days so will have to w8 for some time before they remove the speed cap. have called the customer care twice but all they tell me is to w8.
if you get a solution then please post it here.

Yup,MTNL"S CC is useless MTNL is wasting its capital on such a Customer Care Centers.
u can try by sending mails at 1503@bol.net.in , I am not sure whether this will help or not,but give it a try.

i guess they reduced the speed cause of the heavy data usage as others in my area kept on receiving high speeds. initially it was reduced 256kbps. within a day or two it increased to 512 and after 3 days it has increased to 1mbps so i guess they have already put caps on all the users, just havent declared it. the system automatically ensures no one uses it too much(50 gb in 3-4 days)
i hope within a week it will be back to 2 - 2.5 mbps, till then no heavy downloads.

In my case it has been more than 10 days n i m still getting same slow speed no improvement at all , i really regret my decision of long term commitment with MTNL i.e. Rs. 4500 for 6 months.

Is MTNL really capping download speeds or is it because of bad signal, high traffic on the tower or simply a low speed dongle?!

in my case it seems like it is cuz of capping of download speed

Check ur connection speed in more than one place in delhi,that will give u an Idea whether MTNL is capping ur speed or not.

Tried at 4-5 different places same result
