Earlier it used to be free, but now it is NOT!

Check the MTNL website here and it NOW says that roaming data for both pre and post paid is 1p/10 KB

Shah Jahan ...if u dont know anything then please do not confuse others unnecessarily. I am using MTNL Delhi sim in UP West Circle(Uttarakhand) .. the link u have posted here does not mention any thing about data pack. It is usual roaming charge. But if u go for any data pack there is no no and no roaming charge. how many times i will have to repeat it.

This is the Great SHAH JAHAN (in capitals) speaking (now does that make me sound important? I hope it does. And if it makes me sound lame or inane, ah well I don't blame you!)

I'm only giving an opinion from what I've read on the official MTNL website here and from what I've read on the forum post made by themask007 here.

Don't blame others of 'not knowing anything' or 'confusing others' when they are only trying to help, ever. If you have a different opinion, then say it in a dignified manner rather than blurting accusations! Whatever I said was based and backed with proof. If you have anywhere on MTNL website written that roaming is free, then I'd ameliorate my posts with the updated info. For now, I'm standing by my words.

Actually Zodiac, as I said in the post above, my post was based from what I read on THIS forum AND from what I read on the website.

And I said before and I repeat myself. I'm NOT a paid employee here and am only trying to help and if I'm wrong then I'd ameliorate my posts. It is nice that MTNL Delhi mentions it BUT I checked MTNL Mumbai where there was NO mention about it, hence the confusion. So now that I know that roaming is free I'll edit my above post to reflect with this info. Thank you for informing us about it, we appreciate it brother.

@popop555: Thank you for your feedback brother, I'll keep that in mind and try to improve. The screenshot was actually to SHOW what I read on MTNL.

EDIT: Sorry I can't edit my previous posts because the board doesn't allow me to, hence I can't ameliorate with the updated info.

You could say things in a better way instead of making PERSONAL accusations.

hey .. bro .. i never made a personal comment on u . did I ?? I just told u dat if u have no clear info ..kindly do not confuse others unnecessarily. u can read it. its still there bro .. and i emphasized it coz i am using it and wanted others also to use . but if u took my words personally then i apologize for that. But i didn't mean that. Ohhh .. yeah ..may be u might be thinking about my slogan "this is zodiac speaking" ..never mind this . Actually ZODIAC is my favorite hollywood movie and in that movie name of the character was Zodiac. So whenever he writes something to others at the begining of the sentence he used to write the same i.e This is Zodiac speaking . So .. i liked his attitude and copied that . never mind it .. its just for fun.

Actually, I wasn't tipped of at Zodiac. I'm just a bit touchy about personal attacks and I the words 'don't know anything' didn't go well with me. Maybe because I'm getting old and like all senile people have started to get peevish when feeling disrespected! But now everything is fine among us and I even edited my above post to show that all's now fine among us.

Even I apologize if anything I said hurt you. And thank you once again for informing us about the 'Roaming' issue.

    Kind regards and respect,
    Shah Jahan.

    Question

im not being rude or something.....!!
all are being off topic i guess......!!
So.....can i go for the plan of MTNL 3G in BSNL 3G.....??
And i was thinking is MTNL offering 7.2 MBPS....??
Because BSNL 3G is offering 7.2 MBPS...which is obviously great thing......!!
and if MTNL 3G is offering 3.6 MBPS....Will my speed get capped at 3.6MBPS....I mean theorotically......i know pratically they dont offer 3.6 or 7.2 MBPS...!!

Yes, you can. BSNL lends its towers to MTNL as they are both governmental providers and you won't be charged for roaming.

Someone on this forum says that (PERHAPS?) MTNL is silently upgrading to 7.2 mbps and is testing it in some areas like Andheri East.

He also provided a screenshot of it. I don't know if MTNL is really testing higher speeds or not, but until they make an official statement about it you should expect 3.6 mbps, not more. And when (if) they upgrade their speeds then you should be able to get higher speeds.

PS: Credit of the above image goes to the original uploader.

I don't know about this, but since MTNL advertises 3.6 mbps speed, then your best bet is NOT to expect more, as of now. If they will upgrade then they'd make an official announcement of it.

And all those who are using roaming on BSNL towers, they too show speeds NOT exceeding 3.6 mbps.

If you have some relative in Mumbai then ask them to get you a sim and courier it to you. Some people have done so.

I don't think someone from this forum will get a sim for you and send it to you because it requires documents and hence there is some risk involved. But your relatives, since they know you, will do it for you.

    Hi guys,

I think now both MTNL and BSNL have the same DATA plan,so why not stick to your local provider ie if you are in BSNL area use BSNL and same goes with the MTNL.
