    Default Dismal 3G performance for the past week

    Hi,

    I am using MTNL 3G Jadoo in Green Park, New Delhi, on both my cell phone and a dedicated data card with the Teracomm USB stick. For the past week, the 3G on data stick has been acting up -- first there were frequent disconnections, and now the speed doesn't go beyond 6 kbps.

    From what I gather, others too are facing this problem in Mumbai. But is anyone facing similar problems in Delhi. I have tried calling the 3G CC (23627494) but it's constantly engaged.

    Any suggestions, people?

    Since Friday night, the speeds have increased. Sometimes I get more than 200Kbps but usually it hovers around 35/60 Kbps.

    Secondly, the connection drops frequently;

    and thirdly, my 3g card works only on the first floor.

    GSM 3G [WCDMA/HSDPA] are known to have signal problems indoors as they use the 2100 band. comparatively CDMA 3G [EVDO] gives better average speed indoors as they use 800 band.

    You are right
    We have Reliance Net connect,tata photon and two GSM 3G data cards at home.The signal strength inside the apartment is best with 800mhz CDMA.Though these scamsters hardly give more than 1 Mbps speed,web browsing experience is good.They are still expensive Rs 1000 for 10 GB.
    BSNL is the worst among 3G inside the house.Half the time switching back and forth between "E" and "3G"(Ok in the streets,Railway station etc)
    Among the 3G I find Airtel best (7.2 mbps for all),Vodafone also gives around 5 mbps. Aircel,Reliance 3G has two tier speeds.
    Now that BSNL crap have increased their 3G price, I rather pay Airtel Rs 1250 for 5 GB -30 days instead of crap BSNL 10GB (was Rs 1100 before) now a bit more I think.

    MTNL 3G guys are getting a good deal -rs 4500/6 months unlimited(even those using in BSNL area with free roaming)
    I might put up with crap BSNL if I can manage a MTNL sim !!
