Thread: billing procedure for 256kbps 590 nite unlimited plan

hey guys cud ne 1 of u tell me ,how da billing system works for my nite unlimited connection cos in my usage info im getting usage for my downloads even after 1pm

wehn i called customer care dey told me dat de show da accounted volume and deduct it later in da bill if it is nite unlimited.....but problem is i dont trust dem cos later de may present me a huge bill saying i didnt turn my modem off properly


so kindly also tell me da procedure/order to turn on and modem or pc ,lan ...


also i live in charkop area sec 2 and i hav download speed upto 170kbps kool na...

This is from my experience of last 4 months overcharged billing by MTNL that cost me Rs. 8500/- in total.

Actual Usage:
1] 9/9/2008 14:48 | 9/9/2008 20:48 | 50
2] 9/8/2008 19:01 | 9/9/2008 1:01 | 100
3] 9/9/2008 20:48 | 9/10/2008 2:44 | 600
4] 9/10/2008 14:58 | 9/10/2008 00:00 | 100MB
5] 9/10/2008 00:01 | 9/11/2008 6:00 | 10000MB

Here is how each on is charged in Night Unlimitted

1] As it is truly in the billing hours, it will be charged full 50MB.

2] This usage is partial in billing hours and partial in free hours.
- They divide total MB used in this period into 30 minutes slots and deduct the free hours from total usage and charge.
- So from 19:01 to 1:01, total slots comes to 12. So (100/12 = 8.33 for each slot.
- Only two slots are free usage, so they deduct 8.33*2= 16.66 from your total usage of 100MB and charge for 83.33 MB.

3] Same as case 2. here is the calculation. (15Minuts is counted as 30 minutes, so it will be counted from 20:30 to 3:00)
- Total slots= 13, Free slots 6, Billable slots 7

4] As you can see, the usage is in billing period of before 12:00 night. so full chargable

5] In this case it is no overlap, full usage is in free allowed usage period. So nothing will be charged.

Here is the billable MB for the above usage.
1] 50
2] 83.33
3] 323.08
4] 100
5] 0

MAKE SURE, YOU SWITCH OFF YOUR ROUTER AFTER 12 NIGHT, NOT BEFORE. AND RESTART AFTER 5 MINUTES, IF YOU IMMEDIATLY RESTART, MANYTIMES, IT IS NOT DISCONNECTED FROM MTNL SESSIONS.

SAME IS FOR THE MORNING PERIOD. IF YOU FORGET TO SWITCH OFF YOUR ROUTER BEFORE 8:00AM, IT WILL CONTINUE THE SESSION AND THE OVERLAP CHARGES WILL BE CALCULATED INSTEAD OF FREE USAGE..!!!!

and the session start time is da time when v turn on da router na..?
