    Default Please help with MTU

I have the DSL 7459 NU (night unlimited plan). The net was working fine until a few weeks ago. Now it is nearly impossible to login MSN messenger or hotmail. It is also very difficult to upload files or open some websites in one go.

I did a little surfing and found out that the problem in MTU related. I have now tried EVERYTHING i could find and still no success.....

I downloaded DRMTU and changed the MTU to 1492 in the software, but after that things have gotten worse. Now even yahoo is giving problems.

My current MTU in XP is 1492 (this is what was set by DRMTU) and the TCP MTU in the router is 1492 too.

additional info: I have the wireless modem (WA3002-g4) and my internet speed is 2mbps.

    Please help.....

edit: the software was DRTCP (not DRMTU)

I don't have a Beetel modem so I don't have the options shown in the pic.

Also, I have already tried OpenDNS but that doesn't help too.

    1. Start with MTU at 1500.
    2. Check if this works. If yes, save modem settings, reboot modem and exit.
    3. If it does not, lower the MTU by a factor of 8 exactly every time.
    4. Loop to 2.

Is there any way to determine the optimum MTU for my router and connection?

Optimum is 1492 or 1500. Search for MTU on Google and learn all about it.

I did. I also took the ping test to determine the MTU for my connection but the results were very strange and that's why I posted my query in this forum.

Also, please tell me should I reduce the MTU only in the router or also in the regustry too?

Should I reset all my settings?
I can reset my router but how can I reset the MTU setings in the registry which were messed by DRTCP?
