Default mtnl speed on youtube and other video sites

    Hi,
My name is saud I am now using sify broadband 512 night unlimited but when I open any videos on any sites it look like I am using 56kbps.It very difficult see any videos on any site by using "great sify broadband". So now I decided to shift on MTNL and also I have confirm speed of MTNL on video sites before taking any step. Please guys tell me that videos on youtube or any other videos site can run without buffering on MTNL.
.I want to take DSL NU 849 (256kbps night unlimited)

Buffering of videos on mtnl 2mbps connections is good & not on 256kbps connection.

There is no buffering in any of the mtnl connetction...MTNL is the Best..i m using 256 UL plan and i m getting 200+ downld speed on torrents and avg 100 speed on normal downloading...i think there is no problem in mtnl connection,,.

Minimum speed required for streaming is 512 kbps.
Most isps give slightly lower speed than what they promise.Hence you might have experienced the buffering issue with Sify.
MTNL should work fine, since the 256 kbps night unlimited plan goes up to 2Mbps.

The downstream speeds are set on the DSLAM to which u are connected in the exchange. Just because the DSLAM is clocked to run at 6mbps doesnt mean that the end user will be getting 6mbps. Ther are in the process of upgrading all the DSLAMs to 6mbps or 8mbps. If u do not see the value, then u will have to wait for sometime, before its is active on your DSLAM.

But i have read on the MTNL website that if u get IPTV installed then your speed will be restricted to 256 kbps only.

Download speed for broadband services will be restricted to 256kbps or 2mbps. The rest of the bandwidth will be taken for IPTV.

    IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS:
For those opting for IPTV, broadband speed (both download & upload) will be restricted to 256Kbps only.

They have clearly stated that the broadband speed will be capped at 256 kbps. Seems like if we opt for IPTV then we cannot switch to high speed plans of MTNL. Means they will shift the existing plan to TriB UL data - 256 or TriB UL data - 256 combo.

Surely IPTV cannot run on 256kbps. A minimum of 3.5mbps is required because IPTV uses MPEG-4 compression techniques.

Default LOW Streaming Speed @ 1 mbps Triband

    Hi,
I recently got a 1 mbps triband connection at home. The download speed is very good. But when it comes to streaming videos say from Youtube, it is horrible. Normal videos, which I cud easily stream from my previous connection(reliance 400kbps), get streamed so slow that I'm very disappointed. Can anyone of you tell me if you face the same problem? What should I do about it? If my speed is 1 Mbps, I expect big videos to stream instantly. HELP!
