Default MTNL: UTStarcom Wifi Router ADSL Light not going on

    Hi all,
Pardon any traits of a neophyte you would find in my query. Recently I requested MTNL to change my wired Router to the wireless one that they have begun providing.

They came in 3 days with a UTSTARCOM WA3002-g1 to my place. They tried everything to ensure that the ADSL light on the Router glows but they failed. They suspected there is a current strength problem on the line and went back to the exchange to check if the light glows at the switch level connection. They then informed me it wont work.

What should I do, if I am keen to get for Rs. 50 per month the Wireless connectivity within my house from MTNL rather than buying my own wireless router.

    Thanks,
    SK

    Angry

That's a base comment, particularly in light of what quality of support the MTNL staff is willing to provide.

You have to experience the new MTNL to then learn from not making such lose comments.

The guys are sincere, hardworking and genuinely interested in doing their work. Its a paradigm shift from what State Owned Enterprises used to be 2 decades ago.

I am certain, these guys lack the technical expertise, since the organisational structure is still one where the Exchange level fellas have different skills, the Broadband teams have different skills and so on and so forth. So, these guys are perhaps not able to crack the issue and I am not able to decipher if buying my own wireless router will work either.

If anyone has any serious knowledge to offer, rather than cheeky comments, please do so.

Remember, this attitude of getting past things by just showing some money is what has landed us all in the generally degenerative situation across the nation. I really feel like smashing your nose if I meet you for having such an attitude as you have.
    regards,
    Sushil

(a).please mention present modem/model you are using
(b)..If working fine and you can surf the internet
...please post ADSL data showing snr/attn/line speed etc
(c)... probably if you try with these data
    .....and show them the details
..........they may give you another wifi router to test.

    Thumbs up

Esbee, thank you much for the information. Howeer, the problem I described is the one where under no circumstances the ADSL light switches up.

On a positive note, the MTNL linement and engineer spent most of the day today checking each and every node and switch and connector from the exchange right down to my house. MTNL FELLOWS DO THEIR WORK WITHOUT THE OFFER OF MONEY. JUST A SMILE AND ACKNOWLEDGING THEIR SINCERITY IS ENOUGH. You have to trust, when these guys told me today that "saahab, kitne din ke baad line ka kaam aaya hai. Humko bhee khaali baithne ko accha nahi lagta hai."

So, lets see if these settings will work once they bring in the wireless ADSL router tomorrow again for a check.
