Thread: 256 UL speed

guys...wat shud be the speed for 256 UL cnnctn...i m getting download speed of 26-27kbps max...some people in other thread r saying that there download speed in 256 UL goes upto 200kbps...is there some prob wid my cnnctn??

kbps and kBps - there is world of difference. 256 kbps = 32 kBps.

It is not possible to get 200 kBps in a 256 kbps plan. Either the other person is not telling the truth or you have misunderstood.

Nothing is impossible as a matter of fact.

And its true that some people are getting 200 KB/s of download speed on 256 UL connection and i have seen it myself. This is though by chance or mistake only. The actual speed normally would be what ur getting.

actually some ppl really do get 200 KBps....

sometimes the MTNL ppl 4get to change the speeds and provide higher speeds to the customers...

for around 2 months even i used to get 200 KBps + speeds...

bt now i am synchronized to 256 kbps and i get download speeds of 25-30KBps.......(it is really painful )

ya ..i also got speed of 200kbps+ but for the first month only ,and after xactly 1 month dey reduced my speed to normal ....so if theres any way to get back 200kbps+

OK. OK. What I meant was - when 256 plan is implemented properly and account changes are done properly on financial side as well as technical side - it is impossible to get more than 32 kBps.

Yes, but that puts a question mark on how these MTNL people work at the backend.

even airtel users r getting 35-40 KBps frm 256kbps plan....

man sad 80% ppl dont know difference btw kbps and KBps
see u have a 256kbps line = max 32KBps
abd ppl who have a 2mbps line dey hav speeds of arnd 245KBps
8kb = 1KB
okay and bandwith is always specified in kbps.... like 512kbps , 2mbps , 384kbps , 768kbps ......

abt that mtnl thing of getting 200Kbps+ it is a problem, a type of common glitch in the mtnl system okay so when you take an unlimited 256kbps line.... for the 1st 2 - 3 months when you take a new connection you will get 200KBps+ easliy and the next month KAb0000m
like mav said and no you cannot get that speed back ehhehehehe.... dere is one way - keep on getting a new landline and broadband every month heheheh.........

hehe if i take any 2mbps cnnctn which gives 200kbps dwnld speed and then chng it back to 256 UL after 1 month then i could get 200kbps on 256kbps UL...wat say?

Can't say about MTNL. But such mistakes rarely happen with BSNL.

Ya dude u will get better speeds...my friend is doing this only he changes his plan evry single month...

Changing plans every month can backfire in a big way.

a) Assume that one day MTNL realises that they are not changing the plan correctly and they update accounting changes as well as technical changes
b) When plan changes happen during the middle of the month, the charges are prorated
c) When the plan change occurs and you happen to have exceeded the prorated limit for the period, you will end up paying usage charges.

I've subscribed for 256 UL plan but i'm getting download speed of only 4.9 kB/s. Is there any software like DAP for torrents which increases the download speed upto 300% without even subscribing for higher speed plans?

I dont think there is any software that can actually increase ur download speed (they increase the speeds by switching to different http download servers ,if the download server you r using is already fast then they increase speeds by around 2 or 3 Kbps).
Even i use MTNL 256kbps unlimited plan & get speeds of around 25Kbps.

well no software can increase download speed by 300%....

i use IDM which hardly increased speed by 2-3 KBps

i use download managers only because of resume support.....
