    Default Anybody using 512UL Plan????

    Hey Guys,
I had 256UL Plan (2500/-). After 1st January 2009 I changed my plan from 256UL to 512UL (1599/-). My question is when I go to my modem setup it shows DSL Speed as 256/2045. Even after upgrading my plan from 256UL to 512UL it is still showing 256/2045. When I call MTNL they say that my plan have been activated. I didnt notice any huge difference in download after changing this plan. What I wanted to know is, what should be DSL Speed after upgrading the plan??? Is it 256/2045 or it should change to 512/2045.
Anybody using 512UL Plan please go to your modem setup and check what it says.
Any reply would be highly appreciated.

2045/256 stands for the speed at which the modem is synched with the exchange. It means u will be able to download at a maximum speed of 2045kbps or upload at a maximum speed of 256kbps. Changing in between the plans isnt going to change the modem downstream/upstream values. Since 512kbps comes within 2045kbps u need not worry about the modem configuration.

    Hey Techie,
Thanks for the explanation. I thought when a plan changes even the DSL Speed Rate should change. My problem is I had 256UL till December, in January 2009 after MTNL revised their rates, I changed my plan from 256UL to 512UL. Before I used to get maximum 210KBPS download speed, even after changint my plan I am still getting 210KBPS maximum download. I never paid attention to the Speed Rate before but last week I noticed that it was showing 256/2045, so I thought my plan has not been changed and it should show 512/2045.
I am not sure whether my plan has changed or not, otherwise I would have noticed atleast some speed and download difference. However, when I call 1500 they say it has been changed to 512. I guess my this bill will reflect the same plan.
Could anybody throw some light on this. Is there something that I can do or this is the maximum speed that one can get no matter what plan you are using?????
    Thank you,

    Maqsood
