Default Help needed to configure D-Link Modem

    Hi,

I have a D-Link modem GLB-502T configured for PPPoe. Since I could be considered a novice, I'd appreciate if someone could explain the solution step-by-step

I had changed my plan this month to 849 NU. The download speed on UTorrent in my old plan was reaching 200 KBPS (avg 150 KBPS). As soon as the new plan was activated, the speed reduced to 20 KBPS. So I did a speed check to verify and my download speed was 1.7 Mbps. Also the minute U-torrent started, the asdl and ppoe light start blinking and the connection becomes unstable (is this normal?)

So I read about Port Forwarding and I was referring to a user-guide on portforward. But since I forgot my password on my router page, I had to press the reset button and my existing ppoe settings got wiped off and now the PPPoe LED is off. So I created a new connection and I entered my username (phone number attherate a) and new password (I had changed it from my CA number on my MTNL account) and clicked apply, then went to system, saved it and rebooted. But the PPPoe led still won't glow. I called mtnl's helpline and they said there is a problem on their servers with modems, which would be fixed this morning but so I when I checked today morning it wasn't working.

Do I need to enter my TCP/IP details somewhere on the router settings page? Because, when on the router page my IP address is 192.162.1.1 but the static IP address displayed in IPconfig was 192.162.1.7. Also the default gateway and DNS server fields are blank.

P.S. Also am I on the right track with respect to Port Forwarding?

192.168.x.x you mean.. i dont think its possible for 192.168.1.1 to appear as your pc's static ip.. posting a screenshot would help
