help configuring: Netgear wifi router + D-Link GLB-802C router configured on PPPoE

Hi guys,

I am quite new to the networking but i have some basic understanding of how things work, but lets just say i have never dabbled too much with my modem or router .. i just let it be .. as they say why fix it if it aint broken.

I recently bought a laptop which has Wifi and thought it would be nice to have a wifi AP in the house to kinda roam about with my laptop and still have access to the internet. A friend of mine was kind enough to give me a Netgear wireless router he had spare, details of which are as below

I also have a Dlink ADSL 2+ router , details given below

which is right now connected directly to my PC in PPPoE mode. I subscribe to MTNL mumbai. what I want to do is introduce my Netgear router into this lill network to make it a wifi access point.

my ethernet connection on the pc is configured to get its IP through dhcp and has DNS address assigened to it like so

now my understanding, after going through varieous posts, is that i can keep all the settings of the DLink GLB-802C ADSL 2+ router. All would have to do is to use my Netgear WGR614 wifi router as just a switch. I changed the IP address of the Netgear WGR614 wifi router to 192.168.1.3. i did not assigen anything to the wan config .. as i thought i aint using any of the routing functions of the Netgear WGR614 wifi router. i turned off DHCP on the Netgear WGR614 wifi router. and made the IP address on the PC static to

after that I connected my Pc to one of the four LAN ports on the Netgear WGR614 wifi router and connected one of the remaining LAN ports to the WAN port of the DLink GLB-802C ADSL 2+ router. Switched on everything, but sadly no internet ..

i can access both the devices using thier IP addresses

all the lights blink on both the devices when turned on ie .. ADSL,Data,LAN. I think whats happeneing is i did some mistake in the DNS settings .. as in the initial connection the DNS was fed in statically in the PC TCP/IP settings .. which i dint change

any body have a clue as to what must be going wrong ??
