Default MTNL static ip problem. I don't want it.

    Hi Friends,
I am new here, i will change my plan from Rs 199 to the Rs 599 unlimited plan in june 2009, its mentioned on mtnl tariff site that that i will get one static ip free, as we all know that if we switch off and on our modem than our ip address changes automatically, now i want to know that when i will get that 599 plan then after switching on/off, won't my ip address would change? Will it remain same forever? Or do i have to configure it in my modem settings to avail the benefit of static ip.
I don't want static ip, i want dynamic ip as i have to register to many sites which allow only one registration per ip. so i want my ip address keep changing whenever i switch it off/on. If someone having mtnl unlimited plan than please tell me, i asked mtnl call operators, but most of them are unaware that ip address changes automatically, how unqualified they are.haha. I think that i have to configure it in modem, but i am not sure, so plz help me out friends.

In normal case, your IP will change. To confirm,

Try speedtest.net , switch off the modem. After a minute or switch on. Then compare the IPs. You can find it yourselves.

what they told is correct...! if MTNL provides then your IP will remain the same as long as they provide it to you... and i dont think any provider will give Static IP for Home plans... may be in Business plans they do..!

The results above say that you have a Dynamic (changing) IP. So your new plan should also behave in the same manner. For static IP, you should pay extra. It is not a free service. MTNL has Static IP service, but it will available on specific request and requires payment.

If in doubt, please check with the local authorities and confirm. Your IP will change every time you switch off and on the modem.
