Default Problem with the broadband connection

Hi, I am new here. Recently got the 599 256kbps plan from mtnl. worked fine for a week but facing problems now. I have a sterlite sam300 ax modem. I was unable to connect it with the lan card due to some lan card issues & had connected the modem through the usb port. It was working fine but I was getting a very low speed & it would get disconnected within 30 mins of usage. I thought this is happening because I have not activated the modem through the modem's page (192.168.1.1). When I did the same I got an error that there is a similar Ip on the network and it completely stopped working. Guys I really need help in getting this done. If you need any other info do let me know.

    Thanks

How many systems are you using on that modem ? if they are more than 1 then reset all the IP's starting with 192.168.1.10 , 192.168.1.11 .... an so on
keep the modem in PPPoE mode ie "Always on" mode and connect, seeing your problem this should work.

goto CMD and type ipconfig /all and post the results here

I am just using one system, but have two network connections one with the Lan & the other with the USB

Also I can't change the ip address as I have a static ip (comes along with the connection)

If I understood you correctly, you are connecting ONE pc to ONE modem using TWO cables - ethernet and usb? If that's so and your ethernet card is not working - unplug the ethernet cable and that should resolve your problem. Otherwise assign a differnet IP address to the virtual usb adapter like say 192.168.1.101 - in the same subnet as the modem.

You dont need to change the static ip if that's what comes with the connection. This static ip is "probably" slapped on the WAN side of the modem and not on your computer. So you could still change the IP addresses on the computer
