Keep an eye on DSL lights. If your modem is MT882 then DSL will blink whenever there is a request for incoming or outgoing connection. On Rest Modems light should be stable. Run command prompt in windows and put ping to some site with -t option along with it. Check your download speed at MTNL site or speedtest.net & note down problem you are facing. Then report that to 1504 MTNL Support line.

Ping your DNS server, that will show you if you are getting disconnected (apart from looking at the lights on your modem). This will also show the rate of packet loss.

or you can do a "tracert www.google.com" in an cmd window and then ping a nearest mtnl gateway u get from there. thats the best way to find if you r getting internet connection and also u can find out if the connection is breaking in mtnl server or outside it.
