I want triband How to get it in more than 1 room

i want to get the connection in 3 rooms , but i will use 1 connection only , i mean i will not share between 2 or 3computers. i just want to take in all rooms so i can sit anywhere thats all.

i have mtnl telephone line in all the rooms (under wall)
i checked the wire of the cable and i found it has 6 cables together and i use 2 cables only for telephone , so does it means the other 4 cables are for triband.

yes i want to move laptop from 1 room to another , i mean i will sometime sit in 1 room or someime in hall , so can the mtnl connection be provided by them in all rooms as i already have cables laid in all rooms (under wall) and will they charge extra money for it

also the telephone will be busy when i use the internet or i can receive the calls on telephone.

    You have two options:

    1. Wired connection in two or more rooms: In this case buy a switch. Connect the ethernet out from modem to switch and from switch run ethernet cables in all room that you want. This is a messy way as this involves wires.

    2. Wireless: The better option. Buy a wireless router. Connect it to your modem. Or even better switch to a wireless modem+router. There are many guides here that will help you to:

    - configure the router
    - implement wireless security

    add to book marks .

    EXTRACT.....

    DSL CPE One-time Upfront Charges
(with tele. bill & Non refundable)

    1. For Normal ADSL Modem: Rs.500/-
    2. For Wireless ADSL Modem: Rs.800/-
    3. For Customer owned CPE: NIL

    iv

Monthly CPE Service Charges for MTNL CPE

    Para two:

mention the modem model and make.
presume you use laptop in LAN/ethernet mode.
Confirm your laptop has built in Wireless Lan card,
or provision to insert one in left or right side of laptop.

For the present you can shift the adsl splitter
and modem also along with laptop
and connect to the MTNL telephone junction/port in any room. .

    Para three;
It is unlikely different pairs are used to give extension to

    dude its pretty easy
buy a netgear router (since u already have a modem)
connect the lan cable into the router
name your connection (by default this is *NETGEAR*)

your laptop must have wireless card (shud not be a problem if laptop is new)

then u can sit in the toilet also and surf (like me)

You need to have a wifi card for your desktop and PC or either. It is not costly. Some Rs. 800. You can also connect them using RJ 45 cable.

Your laptop must be pretty old (at least 6 years older) if it does not have wireless.

There is no option other than a wireless card.

If you dont want to buy a wireless modem then you can only buy long Cat5 cables @ around 15rs/foot

Also ask mtnl to supply the modem for rs800 and take a unlimited plan so you dont have to pay modem rental

Get yourselves a wifi modem and a wifi card. Connect system one using modem through an RJ 45 cable and system two/laptop using wifi card. Now a days, we get USB wireless card with compact and cheap. Check with the local dealer. This will be the most convenient set up.

There are USB based wifi dondles available in the market for around 1000 and less. These are the most hastle free option for getting wifi on PC/laptop that does not have in-built wifi.

    @aks20
thread more than one year old: pending?
    1
.As I understand you have telephone junction ports in all rooms.
    2.
You have difficulty in running rj45 cable from one room to another.
    3
.You have an ADSL modem/4portlan/WIFI router.
    ( check model/make from links below )
    4.
You will/may work on only one system at a time.
you could just shift the adsl splitter and modem to different locations and work each computer at a time.
    5. Else get additional Akeeo PCI modem for desktop
with free ADSl splitter ( cost quoted about Rs 500/= or Rs 1000/=)
    or
    6.
A PCI netgear WIFI card for the desktop. ( cost say about Rs 700 /= to Rs 800/=)
    7.
Laptop may or may not have facility to add wlan card.
    confirm.
    8.
Google search : seems this laptop can be used in wifi mode. (HP/compaq models )
Blue tooth? . Can you use it in LAN mode with RJ45 ?
mention model number etc available at bottom of the laptop.

    .
