Hi,

If you go for unlimited plans they will provide you the connection within 8 days. Do not go for limited plans. I live in Malad west. I had applied for dsl 249 combo plan which gives you 400 mb free. The 400 mb finished in 4 days only and my usage were shown on mtnl site as 1400 mb which is incorrect. I am aware that surfing is counted as usage but the usage shown at mtnl site is not correct. They over charge you with limited plans.
Hence my advoice to you is go to unlimited plans.
Yes, your netgear router should work with Mtnl conn.
Currently mtnl provides Sterlite Sam 300 AX modem which is very stable and fast modem. I am using it now.

You can contact me if you need further information at vishal.deoghare at the rate gmail.com

Regards,
Vishal

Can you specify the model number of your modem so we can advise if its a modem or router. Many people use the term interchangeably so can lead to confusion.

You need an ADSL modem . ( seems MTNL is supplying SAMax300)

Along with this adsl Modem, use
your Netgear WGR614 to connect 4 systems , or use
wirelessly ( No cable connections ) any number of laptops within range. ( usually a radius of say 30 to 40 feet (*conditions apply ).

REFERENCE : settings for SAM AX300
