Thread: Mtnl broadband speed sucks

My One Friend in Dombivili has MTNL Broadband....
I Visited Him 2 Days Before ....
The Speed For Torrent Was Like 32-50 kbps on torrent....
And He Has 2mbps Line......

Has he done proper port forwarding?

it also depends on the torrent , no of seeds etfc

My MTNL connection is performing really poorly as well!! Getting only 25% of the speed im supposed to be getting!!! Really frustrating when your paying 4k / month.

Did everything including visiting my telephone exchange and wasting one entire day behind the uneducated staff there.

Planning to move to Airtel, that's if they offer a connection in my locality ofcourse.

dude check your internet speed on speedtest ....

I too had booked a 512kbps connection but some idiot at the MTNL office decided to charge me for 512 and give me 256 :S Anywas, after doing a few speedtests i was confident that the speed being given was no more than 256 .. so i fired off an email to the area manager.

Within the hour my speed was corrected and now i'm really really loving the internet.

MTNL is very poor when it comes to Broadband. I sometimes wonder how BSNL came to become so much better. I have rarely heard good things about MTNL.

You don't heard good things because people have prejudice in urban ares against the Public sectors. Otherwise i have never heard in real life anyone facing any serious issues with it.

Well, I am using MTNL since over a year now and I don't had any bad experience with MTNL.

Even the people around me are very happy using it.I hardly get any downtime or network error.

And The speeds are also good.!!

Please note that I am not against MTNL. I made a general comment, that's all.

Speed on torrent will depend on multiple factors like the peer's allowed/shared upload speed. Try testing any large downloads from any video viewing site like YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.. If you are getting the video stream faster enough before it gets played, you can ignore the torrent speed issue.

Moreover, I've experienced a lot of trouble with MTNL and their service is really worst. There is no responsible person having proper knowledge of their powers or having proper knowledge of their responsibility.

check my post where I've shared lots of communication with MTNL. To my surprise, as on today I face a problem very unpredictably with certain IP addresses alloted to me - My email sending does not work.!!!

I would suggest all to provide any of your inputs for "possible actions we can all take against such behavior from MTNL".

im using 256 unlimited plan.......earlier it was like heaven........bt now it gives me pathetic speed........i wonder what is rong with these guys??

256 Kbps / 8 = 32 Kbps. if you get anything less than 25 then you need to worry. else its fine. If earlier you use to get say 100+ then its because MTNL was doing social work

i have 256k unlimited plan and my download speed is just 25k. not only that my surfing suffers whenever i am downloading.

On a 256 plan your d/l speed is within range, please don't expect you can download and surf the Internet at the same time and get a fast surfing speed on a 256 plan, switch over to Trib Unlimited 1Mbps
