Hi,

I used the 'Register TriBand Online' link on the Mumbai MTNL home page (MumbaiSelfcare/Forms/ADSLRegistrationForm). After entering all the data, I click on Next and this gives me a page with a 'Digitally Sign button and a message to install an ActivX component on my computer. When I say Install ActiveX control, I get a dialog with COMMITSignermdc1.cab, with Provider: Unknown Publisher, and IE 7 says that Windows has blocked this software. Clicking on the 'Digitally Sign' button gives 'Signing ActiveX Component is not installed on your computer'

I am not sure how to proceed. Please help.

well i tried that too and it sucks.
i would suggest calling 1500 to register the new mtnl broadband request.
alternatively you could download the pdf form, fill it and quickly submit it to the nearest qcsc (quick customer service center) . (this way is faster)

Thanks for the replies.
In my case I don't stay in Mumbai and I'm doing this for my parent's house in Mumbai. My parents are over 75 years old and I would like to spare them the trouble of figuring out all of this and/or making the trip to the qcsc.
Since I see the 'Register online' link provided on the MTNL site, I am wondering if anyone has used it and if so, how did they overcome the 'Digital Signature' and 'ActiveX control install' issues.
When I click on the 'Unknown Publisher' of the ActiveX control, it shows: Name:'COMM-IT India Pvt. Ltd.', Email:'sohan.kanojia@gmail.com'. The certificate is valid from 6.27.2006 - 6.27.2007, and I think that may be the problem. I have also sent this problem to the MTNL 'Contact us' email address, but I am not too confident I'll get a response - If I am successful, I'll post it on this site on how I got it to work.

Earlier people who use firefox had trouble accessing certain online application. Are you using it?

I am currently in the USA and am coming back to Mumbai on Sept 12th and want to get the broadband connection at my parent's house in Mahim, before I arrive. Since I don't want my parent's to go through too much trouble (and also because they are very computer illiterate) I wanted to do as much as possible online, from here (especially since MTNL has mentioned on their site that we can Register Online)
Since I am desparate, I have tried this with IE7, FireFox Mozilla, Google Chrome, but no luck.
On IE, I disabled all the secutiry using Tools->Internet Options->Security->Custom Level and with Tools->Internet Options->Advanced and I was able to install the ActiveX control, but still get the 'No Digital Certificates installed on the Computer'
I am concluding that the Register Online capability will work only for the very few people who have applied for a Digital Certificate from Certifying Authorities (CA) like Verisign etc (I may be wrong about this and would like to hear from someone who has successfully used the 'Register Triband Online' link to register)
So, for now, I have given all the details to my 89 year old Dad and hopes that MTNL will help him out when he goes to thier QCS :-). Since there is more than 1 month left, I am hopeful that I'll have the Internet connection by the time I am back.
