Default Modem - Cost and rent

I wanna know if they're going to end those monthly rental charges for modem.
Isn't there any time limit...i mean 2-3yrs? or the monthly charges for modem are to be paid as long as the net is used?

My uncle is using it in delhi and he gets monthly rental in his billing statement.

i think its their bread and butter, but maybe after sometime of usage they make take it back,

btw my uncle is using net from around 2004 i guess.

yes.
but look at the other side. by this process you are effectively getting a lifelong replacement warranty.

I have replaced my modem 4 times in 15 months because it simply fails to work as i handle it without care.
It hasn't cost me a penny.
It would have cost me about Rs.6500 , and now I have paid 15*50=750 For 4 modems.

So i prefer that.
Also modems do not have a long life so yeah It helps in a certain way.
