Question MTNL is either too dumb...or just too smart

I had 2Mbps-2Gb connection previously. I got it changed to 512Kbps-Unlimited on Sep 1. My account on register.bol.net.in says it has changed to 512Ul and 1500 and 1504 people have also confirmed this. But till today I am getting a speed of [B]2Mbps[B]. I am worried they may later charge me with 2Mbps Unlimited (Rs. 8999). What should I do? Tell me.

    marking with color: answer

Red: you already made mistake. 2mbps connection and 2gb limit?
Green; take screenshot of your account as soon as possible.
Blue: if you have this screenshot, do also take a print of it and sign it up from local MTNL guardian.. that is the help from me..

have fun untill they actually change the connection in your modem. after that you will bel imited to 55kbps DL speeds.
and they may only for the 512 kbps connention.
most of the users here who have downgraded their connections can confirm this that it take a couple of weeks to change the connection to your present one atleast.
    so dont worry that much.
you cna check the actual connection speed provided on the modem status page where adsl downstream limit is mentioned.

    I m from mumbai

And i have similar problem...i was on 256kbps unlimit plan from april.....i was gettin 2mbps speed on i...which was downgraded to exact to 256 kbps which i should get...so no complain.....

Than the ad comes...they will double the speed till 31st august 2009...

now i keep waiting as well as hear from few it being done...good...now i decide i wont b able to survive even on 512 speed after tasting 2mbps speed so decide to upgrade to atleast 512 plan which will become 1mbps plan

So i call on 31st august to move me to 1 mbps plan...

On 2nd september i check my online usage login screen that i have been upgraded to 1mbps unlimit plan.....but my happiness is short live when i check my modem page...that i m still getting 256kbps speed.......i have call them on 1504 where they say to me to book compalin on 198 i do there and they ask is the fone working if i say yes they bang the fone.....when i mail them they say again to contact on helpline......when i mail my local provider mail id...it bounces...

Now again i called 1504 i got a new number which doesnt pick fone(24361221 and 24329308)

Really dont know what to do......even the local exchange ppl are fools...as once i brought my modem to check with them...they connected there own internet line on my modem and than says u have locked your mac id......what did u did.....

Realyy dont know what to do

    1. Customer care of MTNL is really not upto the mark as they are not trained
    2. 1504 X 3 is waste of time
    3. 1504 X 1 you give your complain there dont ask too many questions cos they are not able to reply
    4. Call the local exchange for me it First 4 digits of exchange and then 1300
(so for me it is 28901300,) dial there and give complain, this is more helpful.

It takes two weeks to upgrade plans as in real, the billing is just computerised so no any problem as per billing is concerned

    been there and done that

    cheers
