Question What is the speed boost after port forwarding

Can anyone please tell me the effect that port forwarding will have on download speed. I am using 512kbps MTNL and uTorrent. I get around 40-55kbps (averaging around 50), with the 'Port not open' icon on uTorrent. Will port forwarding take the speed to 512 kbps? Pl tell me.

Default Difference between kpbs and KBps

    u r speed is 512 kpbs and i m sure u r getting d/load speed on torrent 40- 55 KPbs if u multiply 40 into 8.5 means u r getting 340 kpbs
    1 KBps = 8.5 kpbs approx.

If ur getting 40-55 without portforwarding on a 512 plan.. after pf u'll get ur full speed arnd 55 kbps

Although realistically 512 / 8 is something like 63 kbps.. the length of the line etc. taken into account, 55 is a nice download speed... cheers!
i am on the same plan and i usually get ~50 on torrents and 55-58 on regular downloads.

In you 512 kbps plan, after portforwarding and assuming that you are downloading for torrents with large number of seeds, you can expect a download speed of 90~95% of your plan speed. So you could expect a speed of 60 KB/s or 480 kbps.

    Not quite. 1 KBps = 8 kbps.

    512 kbps = 64 kBps.

Port forwarding is like opening a dedicated data transfer line for an application(eg:utorrent)
