Question Connection dies automatically

I have an MTNL 256kbps unlimited account, and have been provided with a UTStar ADSL router. My connection dies automatically after a while, with the duration ranging from a few minutes to a few hours (usully averaging 1 1/2 hours, but fluctuating greatly). While the network continues to be shown as being connected, there is no data transfer. Restarting the computer is the only way to counter this problem, after which it works just fine for a few minutes (or hours) and dies again. I use win xp sp2. Please advice.

if the router is connected to LAN/Ethernet port then
it should work fine if your network settings are correct
and if Network card is not faulty .
UT300 modem/router is reported to be a stable one .
you may have to complain to MTNL customer care .

Question

I connect through the USB port since there was no data transfer when I connected through the LAN port. MTNL has not been too helpful till now.

Thats strange! Because network cards usually do not create problems. BTW, was your card configured properly... as given in the manual?

^ pls use D-Link 502 thru LAN port and it should not
create any problems (if everything is right) . It has been
observed that USB connection is not stable for internet .

^ is it DSL 502t or GLB 502t ? GLB version might require
a patch from D-Link service center . and for DSL version ,
firmware V2.00B01T01.ML.20050530 is reported to be stable ...
