Thread: MTNL hikes broadband speed for unlimited plan

MUMBAI: State-run telecom operator Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) on Wednesday said it has increased the broadband speed up to 384 kbps from the existing 256 kbps under its unlimited broadband tariff plan for its customers in the Mumbai circle.

All MTNL subscribers of 'Unlimited Plan 749' will be eligible for the 384 Kbps at the existing rates, MTNL said in a statement.

MTNL has also extended the timing for free download under its 'Night Unlimited Broadband plan DSL NU 849'.

“Under the plan, between 10 pm and 8 am, users would have access to free unlimited downloads with this plan, MTNL said. Earlier the timing was 11 pm to 7 am.

The monthly CPE (router/modem that is placed at the subscriber's location) service charges are also waived off for all unlimited plans users. - PTI

Before it wasn't 11pm to 7 am it was 12 am - 8 am.

Now it's 10pm to 8 am? cool! way to go MTNL

I havent recieved any increase in speeds.......in fact a week ago i had tremendous problems in even geting connected.frequent disconnection was real irritation.and after that now that it is functioning normal,im not geting download speeds beyon 39kbps......as compared to upto 100-200kbps at the beginning.....so i dont thinkathat has happened!!!!!!

1. Confirm your speed for your plan on MTNL website.
2. 100-200kbps at the beginning was because of introductory offer i guess ( not sure)
3. Post your plan name.

Brother i my plan is the "erstwhile" 256kbps unlimited Rs749 plan........but now on the website it says its 384 kbps.btw there was no introductory offer!i used to get 95kbps on rapidshare and 180 kbps for torrents with good seeds........dunno what has happened now! n another query is do i have to call the mtnl guys and upgrade to 384kbps or is it by default?????

Do a speed test on speedtest.net and check. else call them. I think its Auto Updated for all users.

here is the speed test....what do u think now........tell me something i can do to increase my download speeds.........thanks in advance!
