I have been a MTNL Triband user since a long time now.
I have the unlimited 1MB plan at home.
Recently I had come across an advert for a 4Mbps with 8Gb data transfer plan from MTNL. Till Now I was using the 1199 plan where i get 2Mbps speed.
Now I applied for this plan in September (9th to be precise) so that I could get the plan from October. I even got a confirmation from their customer care that it would be enabled by 1st Oct. Oct started, but the plan did not change. On inquiring with the CC i was told that since i have not received a confirmation call the plan has yet not started. I told them that I had confirmed but still according to their records i had not. So anyways I confirmed then and within a couple of hrs i got a confirmation call again and I reconfirmed the same thing - Yes pls start this new plan.
It was to be started on 1st Nov, which did happen fortunately. But when I checked my router I saw that my d/l was capped at 2mb and u/l was capped at 256kbps. I even did several speed tests. When i gt the same result I called up their customer care and complained and got a docket no.
Complaint was made on 2nd Nov itself. But since I did not receive any feedback from them for a few days i decided to check on the status of complaint. I was shocked to see that they had closed the complaint citing complaint resolved. I decided to send a letter to MTNL this time. I sent a letter for the problem and also asked them to change me back to my old 1199 plan as they werent competent to give me a 4mb plan. about 10 after i had sent the letter a guy (an engineer from MTNL) visited my office. Did the usual things, checked the router n all and then called up his senior in MTNL and told them that speed is ok and that i was still in the 2mb plan so speed i was getting is right. That is when i logged into MTNL's WEB SELF CARE site and showed him that my package is being shown as 4mbps.
He then told me that the speed would be boosted to 4mb in couple of days, on enquring with him about the days that i had lost (it was almost 22nd nov) he told me that nothing can be done.![]()
So, again I sent a letter to MTNL. Only, this time I told them to change my plan - did not mention anything about the previous complaint or anything. I just wanted to get out of the mess. Now i know that MTNL is like a typical govt organization and it is best not to change anything with them.
I hav written this long post because i wanted to warn everyone who was thinking that MTNL is improving. Be warned that they are not. Any pls do not take this 4mb plan except if you have spare money.![]()
