Thread: How to configure Linksys WRT160N wireless router for MTNL broad band ! -pls help

hi

i bought a linksys wrt160n router, which for some reason doesn't work even after following the cd wizard instructions.
my mtnl modem's working fine on its own.
but when i connect it to the wrt160n, the wrt160n (and any machines connected to it) can't connect to the internet.

the mtnl modem is a Sterlite SAM300 AX.

i've tried:
1. trying out the wrt160n at a friend's place---it works.
2. resetting the wrt160n and re-installing it---not working.
3. resetting the wrt160n and re-installing it on another machine(on the same
network)---not working.

All help will be appreciated...thanks.

Ideally, just following the setup CD works. If your MTNL works when connected directly to your PC, then you should not have this problem. I rember that my 160n has a very good wizard in the default firmware.

Does your friend also have MTNL, or does he have another connection?

Here's what could be wrong

1) 160n is not set to DHCP
2) ADSL router is not set to DHCP.
3) Try cloning your PC's Ethernet MAC address to your 160n

Also, if possible, please provide screen shots of

-ADSL router main config page
-160n itnernet config page

That, or take screenshots while you are running the wizard and tell us where you think something is going wrong.

PL specify is u r wireless in inbuilt adsl (router) or ordinay wireless modem.
if only wireless modem than first of all mtnl's Sterlite SAM300 AX set on bridge mode and wireless modem should be on PPPOA/PPPOAE mode
