Happy Makar Sankranti, Lohri and Pongal to all ....
I am under the DSL 849 NU plan and i get the results of speed test on MTNL website as 0.348Mbps alll the time.This wasn't the case some months back where i would get a speed of 2.04Mbps.
Now I checked my 192.168.1.1 settings under ADSL statistics and the Downstream rate is 384 while the upstream rate is 256.
I wanted to know if this is the way it is supposed to be....or am I entitled to receiving more speed....so that I can start my Head Banging arguements with MTNL from tomm.
Please help me.....

I tried calling the Prabhadevi Server No. i.e.24361221 and the lady told me if
that is the case they would rectify it withing an hour...but no Changes...
What should i do now...

Do a speed test on speedtest.net.

After results are displayed, a button at the bottom of results says "Copy Forum Link". Just click on the button. Forum link code will be copied to clipboard.

Come back here and just paste the clipboard contents. Your speedtest results will be posted here.

Now what should i do...plz suggest....

Also tell me which "Specific" no. to call
or give me the Procedure which works best wid the MTNL guys which
make them respond to our complaints as fast as possible.

If you have been getting such low speeds for months and paying more for it, why not switch over to the new UNLIMITED PLANS at least you won't need to have head banging argument's with the MTNL call centre staff, the Unlimited plans are dicey, the plans clearly mention 256kbps upto 4 Mbps

No But they will restrict the Unlimited Plans speed to the Specified Speed after some time..
Which will also be annoying......
But seriously am I entitled to receiving more speeds than this meager 384 kbps??
'coz I Got around 2 Mbps for the 1st 5 Days of this Month....
Dat's Y I'm so Inquisitive in increasing my Speed....

The unlimited plans has nothing to do with speed, it implies unlimited Upload and download MB, your speed will be within the plan, ie if you have subscribed to the 256kbps plan then your download speed will not be more than 32kbps anymore. Previously the speed also used to be unlimited ..not anymore MTNL is getting smarter with every passing day, or maybe its going bankrupt. I read in the newspaper a few days ago they want the Govt to bail them out to pay the huge pensions for their retired employees

But what about the Night Unlimited Plans...
'coz they have a speed range from 256 kpbs - 2Mbps
So are we expected to receive a constant download speed of 32 k's?
No more 212 k's anymore?
