Its not crap....it's the whole truth just take this way that in the past MTNL was very generous with their speed unmindful of the plans the subscriber was using, now, they are giving you what you are paying for. For the 256kbps the download speed should be 32KBps ie 256 divided by 8 = 32. Now if you want 117-200 KBps d/l sp you will have to change your plan..no other alternative

    1. Modem - model and make

    2. ipconfig/all data

    3. Whether port forwarded or not

You can also write to Nodal officer or appellate authority. Address and telephone no on the backside of your bill.

this is normal speed u should get.
May be MTNL noticed that u r getting ,ore speed tan u pay for and changed ur speed to normal.

And i hope this guy is not confused between Kbps and KBps.

MTNL has finally woken up from it's slumber. You are now getting the correct speed according to your plan. Now if you want a dl sp of 200KBps upgrade your plan, there is not other alternative, sorry

256 kilobits persecond is what you pay for and that is what you are getting.
    Get over it.

Read the above mentioned replies. Your protracted Honeymoon with MTNL's generosity, is over forever. Now if you want a 2Mbps speed you will have to pay for it

There are many users like you who have enjoyed a higher speed at a lower cost. Unfortunately for users like you, MTNL IS IN NO MOOD TO DO ANY MORE SOCIAL SERVICE. The only way to increase your speed now is to upgrade your plan.

Why dont you go for total unlimited plans ? I am currently using 512kb UL Plan, and its OK for downloading. When you are using a Night UL Plan I hope you know that you will have the headache of rebooting your modem every day at a particular time to start the night unlimited session, (may be at 22.00 hrs, not really sure) but you will get good speeds. Then you will have to repeat the same step to end it.(in morning sometime)

You may feel this simple, but trust me someday or the other you will forget to do so and you could be trouble.

I suggest you should go for a total UL Plan.

Default Total loss of speed from 2 mbps to 256 restricted!!!!

    Guys!

There is a total reduction of speed from 2 mbps to 256 kbps. People using broadband 256 unlimited will not get speed more than 30-32 kbps now. I was getting the same speed for the last 2 years, but all of a sudden it has got down very badly.

i am thinking to disconnect and i said the same to MTNL personnel who came to visit my place after my several complaints about speed. He said this is the true speed and it will not increase in any cost till you do not raise your plan.

So better to switch over to Reliance coz in nights they give more than 100 kbps downloading with the same price. I am saying this coz my lot of friends using it.

Man you are lucky to get 2mbps for 2 years on a 256kb plan.
I wish I had the same luck and I would have got 4mbps on a 512kb plan.
But now all of us are getting correct speeds according to our plans.

In limited download plan speed is 2Mbps(256Kbps) but if you take unlimited 256Kbps plan, download speed will be 32KBytes per second that is 256 divided by 8=32Kbps! So u r getting the right speed for your plan! Always go for unlimited connection, never opt for limited plan, u will repent later! In all other countries data caps or limited plans have been completely banned, they should implement the same for India soon! limited plans are a headache for all the customers..
