If your are tired of using slow internet connection even in the name of broadband then it is time you have a look at the MTNL broadband service and its plans. i m sure those 75 % did not chose mtnl only on the basis of cost...they didn have airtel line in their area like me....

Why would be they not choose MTNL. Its just a matter of perception. MTNL is public sector therefore many think it is a crap which it is not.

it is crap in customer care services

once u take the connection, noone even bothers bout customer care..

You won't need customer care much ...not with MTNL

AIRTEL gives up to 16mbps which i think must be great

Call 1500 if you have any complain.

i know how their cc is...coz my problem hasnt been fixed since 2 weeks even after going to janpath exchange n meeting with Broadband engineer K.P. Singh...

It's been 14 days now that i have lodged a requirement for a new broadband connection. After two verifications (and the visiting personnel themselves expressing their satisfaction over the docs provided) i am yet to hear from MTNL.

I am unsure about the status of my requirement. Called customer care cell at 01122221500 8 times with no success. Every time, the call drops (with a automated voice saying 'the mobile you are trying to contact is unavailable') in the mid way and within the first 50 secs of the beginning of the conversation.

Just sent a mail quoting my situation to MTNL at the address 1500@bol.net.in

I am all at sea because the area i have shifted to recently does not have Airtel connectivity. The data card plans are costly (especially going with my large data up/down load requirements) and from my experience i have come to know that they are inconsistent as well.

Any help?

Who would want a sh*# connection of airtel...
everyone except MTNl in the big players,
1: charge more then MTNL,
2: have a definite FUP(thats Fair Usage Policy)
3: thier unlimited plans are in name only..

just check the fine print of the contracts...

on MTNL I Can download 200GB per month and they will not make a peep....
can you say the same for Airtel, Reliance, TATA, or anyone else for that matter..

MTNL Rocks. Fair and Simple. I never had problems, real problems actually. The guy (lineman) shows up within 2 hrs if I ever register a complaint on #198

And I enjoyed 2Mbps for 18 Months, while paying only for 256kbps :P
So I love MTNL. I miss the speed now, but hey Who Am I To Complain?
