Its time for something like this to happen in Delhi as well... Unfortunately Airtel is too slow to make any changes specially when it comes to offering customers something to cheer about.

I Dont think private ISPs will really reduce their tarrifs so much.
THIS WILL BE THE FINAL BLOW TO THEM FROM MTNL.
    MTNL IS THE BEST

Guys you wont believe it, i got mtnl triband connection on 16/01/2010 and since that day till feb 17 i got download speeds of 2.4 MB/S even on utorrent i got 1.5 MB/S, speedtest.net it gave me speed of 19 mb/s and on 192.168.1.1 it showed
    downstream rate kb/s = 22532
    upstream rate kb/s = 1000

but on 18 feb, 2010 it has now reduced to

    downstream rate kb/s = 614
    upstream rate kb/s = 252

Due to mtnl introducing 512 kb/s on 599 plan upgrading from 256 kb/s

Is there any way i can get those high speeds back
During that one month i frequently visited several blogs and saw that few people got those speeds while others refrained from accepting it

pl help you guys look great in this computer stuff

pl reply i m desperate to get back those speeds

MTNL has made 256Kbps( in unlimited ) history, these Private thieves will have not option but to follow suit.Other countries in our region today offer 1Mbps as the minimum starting speed. MTNL has reached half way there, with everyone switching over to MTNL 1Mbps won't be far away

Soon these private ISPs will have to pack up their broadband services and quit from the Indian market. I am reffering to ISPs such as Hathway, Sify and to some extent Tata Indicom which not only provide poor internet services, but also cheat their customers for some extra profits.
Now majority of people will switch over to MTNL.

The only thing which is annoying me is WHY AINT MTNL REDUCING THE TARRIFS OF 2Mb and 4Mb UL PLANS?

SOON MTNL AND BSNL WILL BE BIG PLAYERS IN INDIAN BROADBAND MARKET PROVIDING CHEAP AND AFFORDABLE INTERNET TO ALL.

I dont belive this, they upgraded your plan so soon?
I suppose they upgrade plans only on 1st of a month.
Most of the MTNL customers have got such good experiences to share.
Consider the huge boost of speed a gift from MTNL to its new customer.

Unfortunately their is no way to get the speeds back.
Enjoy the speeds for what you are paying for.

yes, just read the ad on paper yesterday.

BUT you know just like Hathway MTNL has the worst customer service and they don't care for their customers, they just offer good plans and their net goes on dis-connecting, and you can't expect to download big files from rapidshare, etc without premium account coz you will get dis-connected doing so.

I bet if Airtel has such plans or even close to such plans then all the users from MTNL would shift to AirTel.

Keep betting all your money on Airtel and you will end up a pauper.
If you are having connectivity problems, and your net goes down while d/l from RS then the problem has to be on your computer, not MTNL ( reply if you want to know how )
But a RS Premium one month A/c and dl everything you want tension free.
Yes MTNL Call Centre Staff are yucky, but they have secured Permanent jobs , so who cares, if you had a Govt job too, you would behave the same way ...

I don't have any connectivity problems with MTNL ..I wonder why ?

I have MTNL too & i do face this issue of continuous disconections but, there is a good way to get rid of this issue. all you need to do is when you start your router & the ADSL lights starts to blink pick up your phone receiver & keep it aside, & you wont get disconnected.

You can also use "Advanced Net Speed up" software that automatically pings us to a website and thus the internet does not disconnect automatically.

Agreed that MTNLs customer service is not as it should be.
But if their are disconnections, most of the time the problem is at the users end.
Why not to resolve them yourself?
Most of the MTNL customers are satisfied with their internet connection, and even if Airtel has such plans, why would they drop MTNL?
