Thread: Which is a better modem model for MTNL broadband

Hi

I am looking to buy a old Modem for MTNL Broadband in Delhi.

I have found some modem on sale (online) which are as follows. As i don't know much about modems, Please tell me which is the best out of the following & is best suited for MTNL broadband:

1. MT882 model it has 5 things like rj45 lan cable power adapter modem itself phone wire and usb cable


2. D-link GLB-502T - Selling Price -Rs. 350

3. Starcom UT-300R2U - Selling Price - Rs.500

What things i have to get from the person selling modems along with it?

Are they new or used ones ?
How many computers desktop/laptop you intend to use ?
1. Mt882 is a very old model. but reliable.

. Along with Modem you need
a Rj11 telephone cable to connect to MTNL phone line.( 2 wires )
A rRJ45 cable to connect modem to computer. ( 8 wires)
An adsl spliter having three ports. marked LINE / MODEM/ PHONE/
cost approx Rs 75/=
Modem with power adapter. User CD manual If
packed in Box.
Or easy method ask MTNL to install the connection along with modem cables etc.

These are all old modems.

Meanwhile i had contacted and got GLB 502T and tested it, but it is not working. I had got Modem, Adapter, RJ-11 cable, USB, Manual & CD with 502T. Does the splitter, and Ethernet cable come with the box packed modem. So an end to that modem.

About the rest, pls update about UT 300. How is this modem? and does it give the equal speed as compared to Sterlite SAM300 AX modem which i am currently using.

You have the adsl splitter and RJ45 in use with SAM AX 300.

I checked my MTNL broadband speed :

It is 480 kbps download and 175 kbps upload speed.
