Post How to get the Free static IP Address?

I am having 'TriB UL data-256' plan since last one year. According to this plan i should get one staic IP also. http: mtnldelhi.in/broadband/triband_tariff.htm . Please tell me to whom should i mail for this.

Also, is there any benefit of having static ip? Or is there any downside of havng static IP.

There are many advantages of having static IP but there are also some drawbacks if you are rapidshare downloader or something that requires changed IP.

Better not to take static IP. It is of no use to domestic customers. You will find dynamic IP is useful while visiting many sites.

A static IP has many advantages too
Its something thats belongs to you and only you and nobody on this planet can have the same one.Wow!
Its a permanent address on the Internet, enables an IP holder to host Web sites and e-mail servers, conduct webcasts, and connect with other Internet users via VPN.
I wish Mumbai customers also had an option of getting a static IP for free.

You can host your site or server with dynamic IP using Dyndns or no-ip. Unless you are geeky there is not much use for static IP. But there is always the other side.

Static ips are not meant for home users, usually they are used for hosting servers etc

I have a BSNL BB connectiopn at my home and at my current place too.
Generally I connect to my home PC through remote login or net meeting . But the priblem is dynamic IP. Everytime I need to connect to my home PC ,somebody has to tell me the IP of my PC. I need some kind of scripting or some way to send the local IP to my mail.

How do I do that, need some help..................

Try team viewer server edition. It will help you to even remotely reboot your computer. You can configure a permanent connection with your home PC.

I agree. Not fair with Bombay Delhi having different plans.
