    Unhappy Internet goes off/blocked when downloading (on second PC)

    I am currently a Mumbai Reliance Broadband User and also a Rapidshare Premium account holder. My brother had set-up his laptop to wireless access MTNL triband through Linksys WAG200G Modem Router since mid-2008. The MTNL is barely used for 1 hour a day (new Unlimited 599 plan). Now, I want to shut my Reliance a/c as MTNL allows sharing + upgrade to new unlimited DSL 999 plan .

    My Belkin Wireless USB Network Adapter (for my desktop) always connects to the LinKsys modem easily (after entering security password) for surfing through browser. Note that I remove the Reliance Cable when acessing MTNL. However, everytime (without fail) I download using my rapidshare premium a/c, the internet light of Linksys turns bright Red in less than a minute. The red light will turn back to green (within a few seconds) only after I turn off/pause the download. Video streaming also the same problem. Basically I can only surf at high speeds (but never download or view video stream) on my desktop.

    When I access rapidshare or download or view Video Stream from my brothers laptop, all is working perfect.

    I never accessed MTNL Triband on desktop when my brother is using it on his laptop.

    At the moment, the Internet Light on Linksys has been red for past 2 days (hasn't turned back to green). Waiting for technican to come.

    Can I download on my desktop using Belkin USB netwrk Adapter without MTNL disconnection/blocking?????? If yes, please help with configuration so that both (laptop + desktop) can download through wireless.

    You cannot, You can do internet surfing on both but cannot download on 1 & surf on the other, unless the download speed is really low, you wont be able to browse quickly.

    We Yet don't have that much speed on our hands that we can download & surf together

    Can I download on my desktop using Belkin USB network Adapter without MTNL
    (a)NO. You need a wireless access unit like your LAN ethernet card.
    (b) can you connect a RJ45 cable from
    WAG300 to Desktop ? ( If distance involved is not great )

    =====
    Copy/Paste data here.
    START RUn type cmd Ok
    new window
    Type ipconfig /all
    Waiting for technican to come.
    Please update progress.
    I remove the Reliance Cable when acessing MTNL.
    Keep it also connected if you have D/L quota.
    or test like this.
    (1) connect Reliance and wifi
    (2) Start download.
    (3) when WIFI link disables
    Does the download resume /continue with reliance connection ?

    ( For Info only )
    Mention modem model/make/number of unit supplied by Reliance
    Is it wifi type ?

    Talking Problem fixed

    Hi essbebe

    Belkin Wireless USB Network Adapter (N150) is exactly similar to a Wireless Access CARD (except I can remove/put back whenever I want as it is an external wireless device/card) and picks up the Linksys WAG200G (Modem cum router) signal.

    ===

    Internet speed is good ( exactly 120 kbps download speed + 25 kbps upload speed). Distance between Linksys and Belkin (attachemd to my CPU) is less than 3 meters.

    ===

    Technician never arrived

    On 5th April, I got rid of the Internet red light on Linksys WAG200G by re-installing the Linksys software on my brothers laptop.

    Removed & reinstalled the Belkin Software. This time, when signal from Linksys WAG200G was picked uped by Belkin USB it asked for SSID + wireless password. Previously, my Belkin software only asked for password.

    I enter "linksys" as SSID followed with password, the Internet now works perfect. On both desktop & laptop, surfing (not downloading) at same time isn't a problem. Red light will now come only if one is downloading while other is surfing at same time.

    Entering The SSID name may have been the solution.

    =====

    NOTE that my Reliance Broadband is a direct wire plug in from HUB box (Size of a back-pack) on terrace to my desktop. There is no modem required. Only paid total of Rs 500 to get reliance broadband cable wire connection set-up.
