Default Speed Problem(Same upload and download speed)

i have been using mtnl broadband for almost two years, and everything was fine until last month, there was some problem with earthing of the connection, but, since then i get same upload and download speed(download-130kbps and upload-130kbps) while before this problem, i used to get upload-32kbps and download-250kbps, my plan is 599 UL-combo, and everyone around me is getting same dload speed of 250kbps and upload -32kbps, i have also checked the data rates in the modem and they are, downstream-1148kbps and upstream-1022kbps while earlier data rates were downstream-2056kbps and upstream-260kbps......i also went to exhange office where i checked the speed and it was ok there(downstream-2056kbps and upstream-260kbps) i have contacted the mtnl people a lot of times and they don't want to do anything about this and give silly excuses like-"problem is with your computer since ,internet is active" btw i have recently bought this computer and i have also tested the connection with my friend's modem and i got same data rates(downstream-1148kbps and upstream-1022kbps) so if u people could suggest something that would be great

somebody please reply, if u have any info. whatsoever

why the hell i registered on this forum.....inpsite of so many members....all i see is only views nobody takes the pain to reply......so i would request admin to please lock this thread...and goodbyee indianbroadband.net..there's no point in remaining active on a forum where people are not helpful

    I had this same problem.

You probably have 120.x.x.x gateway....which throttles anyone at will & will stick you there for months even.

What I did was called 1504 & changed my plan to something else then it got fixed...when they changed my plan.

This is a weird problem & there is no explanation for it. I also went to exchange & they said all is ok line is ok....The culprit is 120.x.x gateway throttling anyone at will.

thanks for replying brother....my defaut gateway as suggested by modem is 59.177.44.1 it's different from what u described, but the problem may be bcoz of this gateway only....is there anyway to rectify it without changing the plan?

    Try
    192.168.1.1
It works for my 599ul plan.

    My Gate way is 59.183.63.254
I think this is the best gate way as I never face a problem of any kind with this.
My DNS server is 59.185.0.23 as primary and I use an open DNS server as the secondary one.

Guys as you are facing problems with your gateways try requesting MTNL guys to change your gateways to the one above.

    Most important: Speak politely.

Modem settings appear normal except for ATTN data.
    1.
Go to Tools/services and select BACK UP modem settings.
Save to say C:/MY Documents/testing connection
    2.
You could change Mod mode to GDMT. Uncheck Adsl2+
Attn 30 dB may reduce. and sync rate speed also will reduce.
    3.
    post speed test result link.
    4.
The annexures show "Always ON' PPP/PPPoE connection.
But subnet mask shows 255.255.255.255 Usually for "Dialer" mode ( userID PW entered externally to modem ).
    Confirm.
    5. Re post ipconfig /all data ONLY for ethernet connection.

    6. You may disable/un check IPV6 box in Network settings.

    7. Do you have a STATIC IP allotted by MTNL ?

    1. i changed the modulation type from adsl2+ to gdmt. it reduced attn. and increased sync. but data rate improved by only 4kbps
    2.speed test link
i cannot post that link bcoz i don't have enough number of posts...but the current test results are dlod-1.025mbps and upload 241kbps reason for reduced upload speed could be -"my brodaband connection broke down two days back and today they made it work but now my upload speed has reduced but download speed has not increased"

    4. yes uname and pw are entered externally
    5.screen shot added
    6.yes i have unchecked ipv6
7.no i don't think so, i have set the ip address to dynamic moreover in my plan no static ip is provided ....static ips are available only in high end plans

Confirm you get the same IP whenever you switch off system and modem and restart again. It has to change.

    Download TCP optimizer from speedguide.net
select MRU to get MTU 1492.
Use dns in modem 8.8.8.8 and 208.67.220 220.

    Test speed here after changes.

    give the link .
    (b) read my post no 10 again.
or click the "Yellow"icon and paste the link.
