    Thumbs down Too Much Disconnections!

    Hey Guys,

I have MTNL's 2MBPS Unlimited Plan @3999/- It gets disconnections alot during the whole day atleast 8 - 12 Times in 12 Hours & mostly in the morning & later in the evening.

I have the Crappy 120.x.x.x Ip range which is the huge issue. I complain to mtnl every alternate day & nothing gets done.

So i need to know if there are any similar plans with Unlimited 2MBPS speed on any other good ISPs because i am now really pissed I don't need the sh*tty Fair Usage Policy as i download alot of stuff like training videos etc too. & i don't want this FUP dragging me down.

and also it should either be 1:1 or 1:2 not more than that.

1.Either compromise with usage and get the Stable ISP-Airtel,you will be charged FUP with a crappy Download limit, and get the stable download connection!
2.Or compromise with LITTLE issues and get your speed and UNLIMITED Download by sticking to govt.Isp,Mtnl,

By complaining several times on 198 will surely help solve the issue,i would suggest sticking to Mtnl, coz you are a heavy downloader and these days, either bsnl or MTNL your issues are paid attention! So my final advice would be complaining to 198,then nodal and appetite authority, still no action, then change your isp to Airtel!

I can understand your frustration, but what happens when you complain every 2nd day ..did a Engineer/lineman come over.
My MTNL BB service has so far been trouble free, however a few days ago it started getting disconnected umpteen no of times in a day I registered my complain on 198.. a Engineer and linesman came over the next day they cut, cleaned and reconnected the old joint near the junction box out side my home, which seems to have solved my problem at least for the time being. Moisture(Rains) dust can interfere with the signal with these old copper wires. Check the jointed wire in your house too .

FUP ..is the same with all ISP's in India .

    A quote

We, the undersigned feel that this policy, under the garb of “fair usage” seeks to essentially place limits on ‘unlimited’ plans and is one that will wipe away all your goodwill in the market in one fell swoop. We feel that this is a tremendously regressive move towards Internet usage in India. As it is, it’s a shameful situation that our country, which is world-famous today for its Information Technology industry, has some of the slowest broadband plans in the world. While the world is upgrading to Gbps connections from Mbps connections, Airtel and other ISPs are still content in feeding the Indian consumer Kbps connections, and now believes that it has to even degrade those outdated plans. To add salt to the wound, policies such as your “Fair Usage Policy” now seek to drive the last nail into the proverbial coffin and seal India’s fate to be technologically inferior to most other countries, including other developing nations.

I'm not sure I am allowed to post links from other forums here so playing it safe

In my case the real cause of frequent disconnections was the faulty Sterlite SAM300AX router, I had to force the idiot of a MTNL Engineer to replace it was a DSL- 502T router,as he kept insisting the SAM was ok and it was a line fault ..... No more frequent disconnections with this DSL router and good riddance to that idiot of an Engineer

Damn, I have the same issue on a 512 connection, and I'm looking for a change.

That's not a solution. I've been calling atleast once a week since February, and have visited my local office 4 times. One day after fixing it, it's back to ****.
