Default Router page not opening !!! Any suggestion please

    Hello friends,
    I m an MTNL user in mumbai,Chembur.
    I have a sterlite modem,
Till date i was able to open my router page i.e 192.168.1.1 but suddenly it has stopped opening.I get a error messaage of page cannot be displayed.
Please can anybody tell me what to do. as i have to change some of my setting.
and where to call..as i called their stupid 1504 helpline number the lady on the other side was asking me whats dynamic and static IP. She herself was confused among the two. and instead she is telling me whats the use of opening the router page...as my internet is working.
My purpose is to forward the port to my static ip so that i can start downloading from Apex DC++ (Manual Prot forwading).for that i need to open up my router page. Moreover when i start pinging my router address it says unaable to connect the host and side by side my net is also working.

    So basically two question :

    1. My router page is not getting connected ::: Please help
    2. Is there any help line number in mumbai where should i call and get it fixed.1504 is always busy and it never solves the purpose. Please Help

I JUST DONT GET the motive behind the MTNL helpline number as i m in chembur i should be given the number of the exchange where my server is placed i.e directly is should talk to the person where i m connected to and not some stupid people whom i have to expalin first what is static or dynamic Ip.
A great use of our tax Money. Till now i have not got a person who can come to my house and look in to the matter.Even i m not aware of a single number whom i should call and get this thing fixed.

    1. Resetting the modem will fix the issue. But you need to configure it again. Don't attempt if you are not sure what you are doing.

    2. Enter your external IP in the browser and try. It works some times.

You can try yourselves. Just note down the current values and try to reconfigure it again. Seek help from MTNL if you are not confident.

    Assuming you use Windows 7,
Go to control panel>View Network status and tasks>Change adapter settings>Right click Local area connection>properties
    accept the UAC prompt
    Internet protocol version 4>properties
check use the following IP address.
    IP Address=192.168.1.10
    Subnet mask=255.255.255.0
    Default gateway = 192.168.1.1

Use DNS servers as Open DNS(208.67.220.220, 208.67.222.222) or Google DNS(8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4)
    Click Ok.

    I have a sterlite modem,
    mention model/make/number.
type in SEARCH box above say "Sterlite AX300" or your model number, for old threads.
step by step instructions will be available even in MTNL web sites.
    2.
forward the port to my static ip
confirm you have been allotted a STATIC IP which never changes.

    3.
copy/paste following data without edit .
    START RUn type cmd
    Ok
    New window
    type
    ipconfig /all
    4.
    Confirm you use a "Dialer"
or PPP/PPpoE 'Always on ' mode ( userId Pw in modem wan page )

    @animesh833
    Modem SAM 300AX
It would be better , if all queries ( even if silly or , you feel not needed) are replied either giving the data asked for, or comment "WHY do you need it ? and drag the discussion further, and sometimes the topic goes "off thread" .

    2.
Member/s , who ask the queries , are only trying to help you, and from the correct information given, may try to get a solution, and sometimes other member/s use the data to give the correct solution earlier.
    Para two ;
Since you had given reply only to No 1 in my post for the Modem details please refer this link
    wait .....

New thread opened for same problem :
http://www.indiabroadband.net/mtnl-b...ing-modem.html (Dynamic ip gets changing without rebooting the modem....)
